Doctor Who Series 4 - A Retrospective

Jan 14, 2010 00:18

The final complete series with David Tennant as the Doctor. *sniff* I love series 4. Well, except for that one thing. You'll figure out who that is in a bit. Series 4 features a lot of returns, a lot of call backs. It's glorious. Now for the breakdown! Allons-y!

I bring bad news - you know where you said that god I will never have to see her again (about she who must not be named)I have heard rumours that she is back in the new series with 11.

I loved your througths about the series - very similar to mine apart from thoughts on the doctor's daughter - I thought it was too cliche - from that start you knew what would happen - he wouldn't like her as it felt like she was a cheap imitation of his real daughter, he would learn to like her then they would be seperated. I also found the girl that played her to be a bit too sweet for the soldier she was supposed to be (althoigh it is kick ass cool that she is the actual daughter of the 5th doctor).
Reading this reminded me of some of the bits I had forgotten about so thanks for spending the time to write it.

just seen a slight typo -I meant 'thank god' not 'that god' in the first line

I know that River will be in series 5; I saw the pictures of them shooting. But I won't be watching series 5. At all. So I won't have to see her again. Thank goodness.

Anyway, thanks for reading my ramblings! :)

awww why won't you be watching - is it because your not a matt smith fan? I don't think I will be seeing much of series 5 :( due to being out of the country - hopfully I will catch a few episodes.

Lol no problem - I very much enjoyed your ramblings - feel free to ramble some more ;)

I think I agree with you on just about every single thing in ever single episode. Except Rose. You clearly like her more than I do, I tolerate Rose but don't get the big Rose deal, and she has never made me cry. Nope, not even at Bad Wolf Bay pt.1.

Is it strange that you & I have the exact same favorite Tenth Doctor moment? I don't think so - I find it extremely telling to tell the truth. *hugs*

We have the same favorite Ten moment? Awesomeness. That is very telling actually. :)

As far as Rose...I guess we're even now. I like Rose, you're not crazy about her. I can't stand Lana and you like her. It's all good. :D It's things like this that keep life interesting. *hugs*

My absolute favorite moment is that scene in Voyage of the Damned. It was just so serious, and then in typical Ten fashion the allons-y comes and its just back to blowing things up and madness. I loved Voyage of the Damned because the whole Titanic thing made it hysterically funny. I love the ship (hate the movie) so seeing a spaceship of it was interesting. It just shows how important all history is, in ways ( ... )

Yeah, the growing a TARDIS thing was a deleted scene. I like it a lot. That line is great.

You don't know anyone who watches Doctor Who? Oh no! I've converted quite a few people in the last couple of weeks. The marathon that BBCA had just before The End of Time Part 2 helped a lot. :)

As far as Matt Smith goes, I'll read recaps to find out what's going on. I am curious how Moffat's going to explain River though. The way she talked I always thought her Doctor was older, like older than David kind of older. And Matt is....not. Explain THAT, Steven! :)

I loved your long comment! Thanks for reading my ramblings! :)

Alas, I don't have BBCA, and nobody I know likes SciFi, so they'll never be interested. They'd never understand the greatness of Ten and Who.

I also want to say that I'm definitely one of those people that did not like the whole metacrisis thing and the half human Doctor. Though the DoctorDonna was fascinating...until the end. While the growing TARDIS thing was cute, Rose still got the constellation prize in the end.

Your ramblings were fun to read, can't wait to hear about the specials :)

I really love your retrospective on S4!!! There were definitely a lot more likeable episodes for me in this season I think than in David's other two seasons. Not that I didn't have some favorite episodes from S2 and 3, but overall I didn't enjoy those seasons nearly as much.

OMG YAY!!!! Someone who finally agrees with me regarding Journey's End. While I am still sooooooo confused about the whole metacrisis thing (thank you Rusty!) how could anyone not enjoy a reunion of past season companions?!?!? Not to mention we get two Tens!!!! ASKFLHASKFLHASKFLHASKFLH!!!!!

Looking forward to the specials retrospective! :D

Yeah, I don't understand all the hate for Journey's End either. Under the circumstances, it really was the best solution. And the two Tens makes it all worth it, in my mind. We'll simply have to stand together against the haters! :)

Hi Sharma!

Moffat totally went too far with River. The very thought of her makes my blood boil. It's nice to see that someone who is more familiar with the old series than me loathes her as much as I do. If you remove River that two parter had the ability to be right up there with Army of Ghosts/Doomsday and The Stolen Earth/Journey's End as far as favorites go. *shakes fist at Moffat for being a moron*

We were nipple!blocked! WHAT is up with that? BBC had no problem with showing us Eccelston's or Barrowman's nipples. I fell robbed! Other than that I adore Journey's End. :)

Thanks for reading my ramblings! Only one to go! *sniff*
