"You shouldn't feel embarrassed about wanting my help. Out of all the men you know, I certainly have the best genes and have demonstrated so by helping to create two attractive, bright children, one of whom is preparing to enter Manhattan's most prestigious nursery school--"
"Is prestigious the right word?"
"It's more difficult to get into than Harvard. And Allison, of course, is on the waiting list--"
"She's three months old!"
"Which is why her parents are being proactive on her behalf."
"Well. My kids aren't going to a snooty nursery school. So... Artificial insemination. Do you want to be involved? Not *want*... Would you be willing? Because your kids are cute--"
"I know."
"And I'd like to have my sperm donor not be a stranger. So... never mind. This is such a weird thing to ask. Avery isn't going to let you lend out sperm. It wouldn't even be a loan, since I can't give it back. Your wife won't let you gift me with sperm. Nobody would want to wrap that present. I wouldn't want to unwrap it--"
"You're babbling."
"I know."
"Yes."
"Yes?"
"I'd prefer it if the child not know I'm its father."
"Yeah. Of course."
"But I do wish to be involved."
"I'd involve you even if it weren't your sperm. You're the person I count on. For advice. And sperm."
"I'd also prefer it if you not make constant references to sperm."
"I am making myself pretty uncomfortable. So... *is* Avery gonna be cool with this?"
"Her ability to be cool is one of the things I love about her; I'm sure she'll have no problem with me assisting you."
