I'm not certain. People seem to be wary of the lack of a curse and are keeping to themselves.

I know a few people are out exploring, some are on dates, others are just relaxing. The lack of a visible threat to the peace may have quieted them all down.

Well, in mordern times, it's far more commercial than anything, however...

Shortly after the second world war, Japan began to adopt many western practices, including holidays. Taking the secular aspects of the Christian holiday of Christmas, it is a time for family gatherings, giving to others, and a sort of goodwill towards men.
