Israel/Japan is indeed FTW. And I think Russia would be more like the abusive ex who sends Israel a ton of creepy and psuedosexual gifts which he can't tell anyone about.

Like, Russia decided that hey, wouldn't it be nice if Israel were part of its colonies? He's all young and feisty, yet charmingly idealistic! Israel is like, UH NOT GONNA HAPPEN SRY, but of course Russia doesn't take no for an answer. He begins this relentless campaign of romance and terrorism, sending Israel the Soviet Immigrations and flooding his work markets and peripheral cities with foreign workers and cheap vodka.
