Title: True Love's First Kiss
Fandom: Torchwood
Pairing: Jack/Ianto
Rating: PG-15 (just in case)
Summary: Written by a prompt - “My best friend got turned into a frog and now I’m being the best wingman ever by carrying them around to bars and getting hot people to kiss them in hopes of hooking them up with their true love” AU (Bonus points if the best friend is the true love)
Author's Notes: I enjoyed writing this altogether too much.

Ianto sighed as he took off his coat. He didn’t want to feel discouraged - and, most of all, didn’t want Jack to lose hope - but he had to admit that it was taking longer than he thought it would.

Jack had so many friends and people in general adored him. He would have thought that finding the perfect match for him would be easy but, as weeks stretched into months, he knew that something had to be done. His methods clearly weren’t working, but he didn’t know how to proceed, and the entire team seemed to expect it from him - Owen had said from the beginning that they were stretched thin as it was and he wasn’t going to deal with this, Tosh was trying to find a way to reverse the effect of whatever it was that alien had done, and Gwen tried to offer support from afar. He didn’t blame them - four people and a frog fighting anything coming through the Rift wasn’t easy - but he was still slightly peeved. Still, he’d never mention it to Jack. The man was hurt enough as it was.

“Oh, Jack,” he sighed as the small frog croaked sadly from his pocket. “How did we get into this mess?”

It wasn’t that he didn’t know - it had been during a mission, and the alien that had attacked them had decided that Torchwood would be weakened if the only immortal among them had little to no means of fighting - and he was starting to get desperate.

Another croak and he pulled Jack out, holding him gently in his hand. No one would imagine what he actually looked like, but his big black eyes were staring at Ianto pleadingly and he felt obliged to say something to him. Too bad he’d run out of inspirational phrases about a month ago. “There’s nothing else I can think of, sorry,” he whispered as he placed him on top of the washing machine and started taking off the rest of his clothes.

It had been a particularly tiring week. Jack was his best friend so, whenever Ianto wasn’t at work, he tried to come up with as many scenarios which in any way featured Jack being kissed by a human that could - just on the off chance - turn out to be the love of his life. Dealing with aliens didn’t fit well with the extensive amount of time he needed, but he couldn’t give up. Not when Jack’s life was at stake.

He took Jack with him to his room and set him on the nightstand, just like he’d done every day for so long, ready for the little sleep he’d manage to get until his alarm rang, and pulled the blankets over himself.

“Night, Jack,” he muttered and then turned around in surprise when Jack swiftly jumped on the bed, staring at Ianto inquisitively. “Sure,” he shrugged. “Sleep wherever you like.” He twisted around and dropped a light kiss on Jack’s head as he stroked his tiny body with a finger. “Maybe tomorrow’s gonna be your day, Captain,” he quipped and was just about to close his eyes again when light exploded all around him.

o.O.o

Ianto blinked a few times, trying to regain his vision. Once he did, the beam - and whatever had caused it - had disappeared and he stared around himself, only to see Jack lying on the bed next to him. Full-bodied, with a rather unimpressed expression dominating his face.

And just a bit more naked than strictly necessary.

“What happened?” He asked, sitting up in his bed. “Did the effect just run off or…?”

“You kissed me,” Jack clarified and, God, Ianto hadn’t heard his voice in so long that he just had to smile.

“Well, yeah, but how did…” His voice died as the truth sank in. “I kissed you.”

Before he could say anything else, Jack had tackled him to the bed and pressed their lips together in a kiss that Ianto couldn’t have resisted even if he’d tried; passionate and full of something he couldn’t yet define.

“You idiot,” Jack whispered against his lips when they finally pulled apart. “I’ve been trying to hint you at this for months, and you just give me a goodnight kiss, after all my efforts, and it does exactly what I want it to. You absolute idiot.”

“Your idiot, though,” Ianto guessed hesitantly, a bit overwhelmed by the sensations - and the unexpectedly expected turn of events.

“And don’t you think anything else,” Jack said as he leant in for another kiss.
