Hi all! ^_^ I'm kind of new to the MGS fandom...just got into it through zarla's fanart a few weeks ago. But so far, it all looks really awesome! I've been on youtube looking at the cut scenes, and I'm keeping an eye out for the PS/2 games...plus, I've obviously been reading every fanfic I can get my hands on. XD But there's something I've been ( Read more... )

...I actually have this coming up soon. >_>

There are inherent complications in fucking Volgin however, which can be summated thusly: Two words.

Electric. Anus.

Guh. Two words I never though I'd hear strung together in the same phrase.

Well yeah, but isn't his dick also electric? And, y'know, his everything else? These do not seem to present so many problems. I am slightly confused.

Doesn't anyone write Otacon/Snake? I mean this seriously.

...

Sad, fandom. Very sad.

...

Doesn't anybody know how to introduce themselves politely?

Doesn't anybody know that you catch more flies with honey than vinegar?

Doesn't anybody know that coming into a fandom as a novice and criticizing all the established contributors and subjecting them to patronizing lectures on the psychological dynamics of anal sex is not the best approach to use in getting what you want?

Gah, never mind. I'm sure I'm just being unreasonable.

Ok. Redirect. Disregard.

Since I'm sure you didn't mean to come off as argumentative and entitled right out of the gate, I'm going to answer all your questions and give you the benefit of the doubt.

I'll keep looking, of course, but...doesn't Snake ever get to bottom around here?Naked Snake bottoms to Ocelot in a fair amount of fics. As for Solid Snake, well, you've got basically a choice of Otacon or Raiden- again, neither of which are impossible- but more improbable given how both of them relate to ( ... )

Whoa, there. Although I agree the original post is a little impolite, I think you're responding way too caustically and defensively rather than objectively. If you want to bring your concerns to the poster in IM, go ahead, but much of your sarcasm here was completely uncalled for and I don't want any wank in the comm, so I'm screening and freezing this comment. :/

"Doesn't anyone else find the concept of muscular, manly men voluntarily taking it sexy?"

Oh, I DO. XD But I think in some cases it's just a matter of preference. I, for myself, like Snake better as the top, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't read one where he's the bottom (maybe that's just because Otacon is really skinny, and nerdy, and... you know. x_x) Actually I can more easily imagine Big Boss as bottom than Snake. -.o Roy/BigBoss would be totally hot :D~

I guess I can see that. XD Maybe it's just me, but I kind of like the idea of a skinny nerd topping a big guy like Snake. It adds...I don't know, an dimension to the sex, since obviously such a thing can't happen if the bottom doesn't want it. It makes things more interesting. Sure, the other way's great too, but wouldn't it be nice to have both? XD

Uh, yea. :P I CAN imagine them doing that, actually, if they'd have the loving and caring relationship I imagine them to have. XD (But still Snake would be topping more often than Otacon). By the way, I think I saw a Otacon/Snake fic somewhere around mgslash.com; was during the Plant chapter of MGS2 I think, but I could also be totally wrong.

Oh, sure. XD I think so too. But not all the time, that's all. And thanks for the tip! ^^

I was just trying to comment on a trend that I personally thought was bad for the fandom, and hopefully start a discussion that would give people ideas for fixing it.

Here's my brilliant plan. Are you ready?

If you want to see Otacon/Snake so bad... how about you write it, or even request it politely, instead of lecturing people and moaning about how who swaps dicksnot with whom is so baaaaaaaad for fandom.

You know, I swore I wasn't going to be an asshole anymore for a while, but when I read your sanctimonious backhanded "apology" I had to say something. For the record, I don't think you wanted to hurt anyone, I think you just wanted to sound smart. Take a few more Queer Studies classes first, and then we'll talk.

Okay, let's try this again, since apparently I screwed up the first one as well. I'm sorry. I wasn't trying to lecture anyone. I don't care who tops, I just don't think it's good for one character to top all the time. Fanfiction needs variation, or every story starts sounding like every other story.

You know what? I guess I have gone about this all wrong. Maybe I should I have waited longer. Obviously jumping right in was a big mistake. But I'm sorry. I wasn't trying to sound sanctimonious, or smart, or whatever else you want to throw at me, and I'll keep saying I'm sorry as long as I have to. I just wanted to point out something that I thought would be cool, that no one had seemed to notice. I wasn't trying to start a fight. I'm sorry.

Well, okay, I do agree that it would be nice to see a bigger variety of things written in this comm. But it's really a small fandom, and there are only about a dozen active contributors of fic and art to this comm. Everyone, I think, has something they'd like to see.

Just because rare pairings or different stuff isn't getting written doesn't make them bad people, though. I don't think most authors here write Snake topping Otacon to reinforce the traditional power dynamics societally inherent in buttsex or whatever. They write Snake on top because they like the aesthetic.

I believe you meant well with your post and you simply worded it poorly. (Though, dude? For future reference? You worded it really poorly. XD) I hope you find what you're looking for. I don't read Snotacon so I can't help you, unfortunately. I think _dahne_ may have some scenes of Otacon topping Ocelot in her long fic, though. Check with her.

I didn't think anyone was being a bad person, I just wanted to point something I thought would be cool. Like I said in my apology, I actually was seriously hoping to proven wrong! I didn't mean to be accusative. ^^;

This whole post was just a really bad idea, I think. I should have waited longer to make it, but to be honest, I have no idea when I'll be able to get the games or make any of kind of serious contribution to the comm. In a sense, this was my attempt to make a contribution...and it backfired. ^^; I suck.

lol, I knew there was an incoming shitstorm before I took a nap.

Personally, I think there's something wrong with reading fanfiction and having not played the actual video game, even if you've watched cutscenes on youtube..

Anyways, good luck with your Otacon/Snake search. Otacon isn't a very dominant guy around Snake, but I'm sure someone out there has written it. Though I also don't support the seme/uke thing.

I actually agree, but I can't afford to get the games right now. ^^; I plan to get them as soon as I can, though. That's why I haven't tried to write any serious fanfiction of my own, yet, but I thought I knew enough to point out something inside the fandom itself.

Why does dominance have to be part of the issue? Snake's a grown man; I don't see why he can't ask his partner to top him just because he feels like it. Happens all the time, in real life.

mitler May 2 2007, 00:53:13 UTC
Err, well, when I imagine it I'm hard pressed to find a reason for Otacon to be outwardly dominant on his own accord. Snake asking him would be another issue, so you've got a point there.
