The one huge reason I can't watch the show is because that kid with the ears is, well, ugly. I'm sorry lovers of this show that may be reading this, but it's true! Good Lord.

Even Giles can't get me to stick around.

Aww, I don't think he's ugly. But he's not Misha, that's for sure!lol

Oh, I don't watch the show, but he's cute! Cuter than the other guy.

But you probably shouldn't listen to me; I'm not attracted to Dean/JA or Sam/JP at all.

I know everyone seems to love it but it just never appealed to me.

I did hate how SciFi kept trying to advertise it as an original series. Yes it is an original series but not one of their originals. It almost seemed to come across as they were trying to claim it as theirs. At least to me it did.

What I don't get is how someone asked Craig over at Syfy why they were making a US version of Being Human instead of just airing the original and he said something about not having the rights and licensing fees, etc. And yet, they have Merlin from Britain. So, wth, Syfy. Basically, they just copied the idea of Being Human. Lame.

The first thing you have to do to like the series is stop comparing it to the legends. Pretty much everyone knows the mythology (and i'm quite taken with some of the stories that lead you to believe Gwen was actually a Celtic goddess, since it was the norm back then for kings to get 'married' to local gods) but the programme is not about that. It takes the characters and the main plots like Camelot and magic and heroism and weaves its own story. I LOVE that they've made Gwen a servant, and also the change from Morgan Le Fay to Morganna (it makes it so much better when she finally turns to magic.) So no, season two doesn't get more coherant in the mythology of the stories you may have read/heard, but it does draw upon them and furthers their own ( ... )

Hmm, I guess it's just the weird combination of legend with their own version. Why have Mordred be the one to kill him at all if he's just some random Druid kid? (Also, why does Merlin always ask the dragon for advice and then never take it?lol Some things will probably never be answered.)

What were these slashy moments? So share!

Also, thanks for the link! That's the kind I've been seeing this whole time that got me excited to watch. Sadly, the actual didn't match with the perceived. Which is unusual for me. Most of my fandoms, I watch and then *see* the slash/ship. Or with SPN, I read a few fics and then *saw* it personified. But I suppose. There had to be one show that was sci-fi/fantasy I didn't like. I think I've liked every genre show made since about 1990.

I'm a HUGE Arthurian mythology freak. I've probably read/seen/studied every adaptation except the original texts.

OH YAY, ME TOO! :D I'm like obsessed with that aspect of, erm, history and the legends and certain retellings. But I really can't watch this one, because it seems about as serious as The Tudors. *shudder*

But I'm not seeing the steamy glances of Dean and Cas

That's because D/C plays in a different league. ;)

Yes, yes! Thank you. I'm glad someone agrees. While I haven't seen The Tudors, I suspect that reflects exactly my issue with this show.

And yes, Dean and Cas are in a league of their own. Although, McKay and Sheppard can rival them in the look department (seasons 1-3 anyway).

Welcome to the world of adaptations. If you have a pretty famous source material, that's just basically artistic license to throw it to the wind and do almost whatever. It's happened with Greek Mythology, it's happened with Morse mythology, it's happened with Merlin. They've got a specific audience they want to reach, so people tweak the source material to fit what's needed.

But yeah, I don't know wtf is up with Mordred.

Very true. It just offends my sense more with Arthurian legend? I'm just used to it following a more set pattern perhaps, where as Greek mythology is all over the place. Or it may just be the way they're doing it. IDK.

But it seems weird to me that they could make the usual Arthurian legend stick in SG1 somehow and adapt it to fit the source material (Morgan still locked Merlin in a Crystal Cave, was against him at one point, the knights set off for the Holy Grail, etc). And yet a show actually based on the myths is so...off. Meh. nothing I can do, right?lol

They've got their audience. I think the producers is just doing it for money.

And I just realized my lovely typo. I meant Norse mythology, not Morse.
