The cast is huge, yes. Most of the time I think casta are too large. I much prefer the Us vs Them of XF and SPN. But. That being said, I think the main characters will get narrowed down and pegged more. And the crew of SGU has said it's more people focused than past SGs. So while there's more, I think you'll find some of those supposed leads becoming the Zelenkas and Lornes of the show leaving a few true mains. I love Rush. And I love that you have no idea what hes after.

I still say Ruby proved herself loyal. She was willingly tortured and hung out with angels et all. I would have believed her. I did, obviously. But I think we're always going to disagree on that.

Dean talks about how bad daytime TV is. That was a veiled snark about his soap opera days.

but he didn't mention his show, right? Jared's gotten a reference to House of Wax and Gilmore Girls. Dean is the kind of person who wouldn't like daytime TV, so I don't see that as a shout out.

I have noticed that Ming-na and Louis have been used as the advertising and yet aren't in it much. I'm going to assume that they will play a larger role in the next episodes, though. We'll see.

And I think they have indeed. They didn't matter to the over all story and they can't control the ships FTL yet. I think they're gone.

With SGU, for me... I get what you are saying with real life, human stuff and how it's doing that and not shying away. I don't know... I personally always loved the previous feel of Stargate, being more lighthearted, especially with all of the angst everywhere else in television or film. :) I still haven't watched the 2nd episode and I might even though I had very bad opinions of the 1st.

SPN's episode was really fun, but I also felt that it was a little out of place this season especially since we're basically in the endgame and the final season. I'd also love a ref to Ten Inch Hero, hehe

I saw the first 2 episodes of Eastwick and thought it was a cute show, :)

No, you're right. I did enjoy the light-heartedness of the previous 'gates. At the same time, though, I am ok with the verse expanding itself and growing into something more intense. Some people won't like it because of that. But then, so many people complained about how SGA would pass off things like the Hoffan drug and genocide. Unfortunately, no one will be completely happy. Me, I like a lot of angst. Which is silly. But, that's what i have shows like Melrose Place and Eastwick for. I tend to prefer cutting edge sci-fi to fluffy sci-fi, so for me, it makes me happy.

What didn't you like about the premiere? I really enojyed this weeks ep better than last weeks, though, if that helps any.

Eastwick, ah! I just can't get over its cuteness.

Some of my nitpicks with the premiere was related to it not being like Stargate's previous generations, lol. But some of them weren't. I didn't really care for the way it was filmed, especially with the greyish tint. Or that it jumped around w/flashbacks to present, kind of quickly at times. Little things like that.

I am going to watch the next episode... because as much as I might dislike it now. I disliked Atlantis at first, but I never even bothered to watch it... then finally during the end of season 2 I did and well, Atlantis was one of my favorites of all time. :)

I liked the jumps, but I can see where they bothered a lot of people. And it will get more continous, I think. Air III already was smoother. And a total different coloring.

I think people are bitching about SGU because they like to bitch. Seriously, when SGA first came out, it was the same thing. You had a bunch of SG-1 purists who kept calling Sheppard an O'Neill knock-off and bitching that Rodney was the science guy instead of Daniel. It was a thorny road, liking both shows.

I love the new series. I like that it still feels like Stargate, but at the same time, it's different. It retains the essence of the franchise, but its branching out and exploring other facets of human nature.

And yes, I like that Scott is religious. Quite an interesting wrinkle.

Yeah, I do recall, even into 3rd season SG1 folks didn't like SGA. I saw the similarities between the teams like I sort of do here, but they are different. Maybe I'm just easy to please, though.lol

I still haven't decided how I feel about SGU. It does have that BSG feel to it, but it's more on the potential soap opera that's bound to spill out. That's what I'm not crazy about. It'll take more episodes for me to decided what I think. Right now, it's just all over the place with no real cohesiveness and I expect that'll take time to resolve. So, I guess we'll see.

It's nice not to be mad at Sam anymore. I was getting really tired of cursing at the TV. Now, if Dean can quit being an a-hole and make nice with Sam...the world will finally be right again...apocalypse or not. *G*.

Oh, and I missed Cas, too. I've noticed that he always seems to wake Dean up.

I consider most shows to be soap operas. I think you're right, this one does have more of a chance but that's partly the format. Like how DS9 was more soap opera like because it focused on them on the space base rather than a new mission each week like TNG or TOS. So while, this show is about a ship vs Atlantis and you'd think the situations would be reversed, the way they're attacking Universe in comparison to Atlantis, there will be more personal drama. Which gets annoying, yes. But at the same time, everyone always complained that we didn't get enough background in SGA. So...

Haha, Castiel is Dean's personal alarm clock.
