SPN Grrrrrr

Argh, I usually avoid all wank, and I may offend some people on my own flist but I can't take it anymore!!

Now, not only are fans insulting the actresses playing the roles as thought it was their fault (and not say a writing staff and/or creator decision), but now they're insulting clothing and style? *rips hair out ( Read more... )

The blind hatred of women on the show drives me fucking NUTS. Argh. If you're going to hate a character, hate it for a GOOD REASON.

WHUT? Clothing and style are being used in wank too now? JEEZ. O_o I don't like Ruby 2.0 because of the snark-lessness, and Gen's talent... well, I've only seen her in SPN and I can't say I was impressed, but I wasn't turned off by it.

LOL! So true... this show doesn't have girls weighing over 110pounds. Never noticed that before... O_o It's actually a show full of pretty people for the most part. Hm.

I liked Keller actually. I thought she was awesome. I mean, she's scared and timid, but when it comes to medicine, she knows what she's doing and that's where she shines. I don't get why ppl don't like her. Probably because she gets in the McShep pairing. Hm. Maybe that's why ppl don't like Ruby 2.0... because of Sam/Ruby... destroying their dreams of Wincest. :/

Which is lame. Because I like those pairings, too. But it's the show. I understand it ain't going to happen. And that's ok. Sigh.

Welcome to TV. I just take issues with girls demanding for "realism" but commenting on the use of makeup over average size or hair color or something far more realistic.

Y'know what's funny? If they *ever* have an actress on TV that's a guest star or something that falls outside the "norm" of Hollywood, they're usually the killer/crazy/weirdo. If they ever had a chunky actress on SPN I have no doubt she'd be a killer or a psycho, and we'd get thousands of fat jokes.

They should get a Beth Ditto-type actress on there to kick the boys' asses with her awesomeness.

Exactly! Just like, often, the colored or homosexual person is the killer. Or the really ugly guy. And I realize that's true in life. But the pretty ones are bad, too!! SIGH. TV, ILU, but sometimes...

Like in After School Special. >:( Granted it wasn't "her" fault, but still.

Yeah, this sounds pretty much like what we got in SGA fandom right now, and it's not pretty.

Because she was scared and couldn't handle herself in the woods, she's a horrible person!! The fact that she's a medical genius doesn't count for anything.

Right... the same characteristic that people liked about McKay made her hate-worthy. Similarly, the arrogance that comes with the brilliance that makes him such an interesting character in the eyes of many (me included) was something that a lot of fans hated Temperance Brennan for. Bones fandom was full of Brennan-bashing during season one ( ... )

I recently found about how Jennifer Keller is a Mary Sue because - get ready for this - she learned a bit of self-defense and actually knew how to handle herself in 'Tracker'.I've read that too before and don't understand it. Or she's "TPTB fanboy wet dream". I hated Katie Brown, right? HATED. But it was because her character was a horrible fit with McKay, and she was only used as a plot device. Keller had her own story lines, and could be seen without McKay as well actually did things that benefited Atlantis ( ... )

I can see your point but my hatred of Ruby has nothing to do with wanting the Winchester boys all to myself. I hated the character immediately (maybe it was the 'deep-fried crack' line.) I think the character is obnoxious, Katie Cassidy is a horrible actress, the dialogue was awful and it just plain turned me off the show. I never watched it again, so I've never seen Bela or the new Ruby. Not because I'm OMG JEALOUS THEY STOLE MY PRETEND BOYFRIEND or because I'm just a catty female who automatically hates anyone skinnier/prettier/more famous than me. It just plain didn't work for me.

That is certainly understandable. And as someone else said, if you actually dislike the character, that's one thing. While I don't agree with you (those obnoxious traits are exactly what drew me to Ruby), I can understand how it was annoying or how you might think she was a bad actress (Lord knows I think that about quite a few Vancouver guest stars!). I'm sorry it turned you off the show, though. :(
