Argh, I usually avoid all wank, and I may offend some people on my own flist but I can't take it anymore!!
Now, not only are fans insulting the actresses playing the roles as thought it was their fault (and not say a writing staff and/or creator decision), but now they're
insulting clothing and style? *rips hair out

Because she was scared and couldn't handle herself in the woods, she's a horrible person!! The fact that she's a medical genius doesn't count for anything.
Right... the same characteristic that people liked about McKay made her hate-worthy. Similarly, the arrogance that comes with the brilliance that makes him such an interesting character in the eyes of many (me included) was something that a lot of fans hated Temperance Brennan for. Bones fandom was full of Brennan-bashing during season one.
Even more... interesting is a post I recently found about how Jennifer Keller is a Mary Sue because - get ready for this - she learned a bit of self-defense and actually knew how to handle herself in 'Tracker'. In other characters that would've been called character development. But here it's proof she's a Mary Sue. There's really no way she can win with fen who're determined to hate her.
I have this whole meta-post I'm currently turning over in my head, titled something like: Why 'Mary Sue' is not synonymous with 'fictional female character I don't like'.

I've read that too before and don't understand it. Or she's "TPTB fanboy wet dream". I hated Katie Brown, right? HATED. But it was because her character was a horrible fit with McKay, and she was only used as a plot device. Keller had her own story lines, and could be seen without McKay as well actually did things that benefited Atlantis.
I just feel like the fangirls sabatoge themselves by hating women characters. Then again the ones who hate Keller often are the big Weir and Teyla fans and also Amanda haters. I can't understand why you can't like them all. I enjoyed Weir's character even when I disagreed with her. Teyla was the perfect diplomat and while not my favorite, I loved that she balanced kickass and diplomat. I thought she was underused. And while I could almost agree that Carter was a Mary Sue...no, she's not the definition of one. If that's how she was created by TPTB, that is her character. While perhaps unlikely she's a genius at all those things AND at military actions, it still worked because it was just Carter. And Amanda played it well enough (most of the time), that I could suspend my disbelief.
And I admit, at first I was like, OMGKellerissoirritating! after seeing Missing but I never hated her and once they developed her character further, I got to like her more and more.
