In the last comment, I spoke about how much I liked Jothbert’s love for his family. This bit showed off Jared’s mother, and her devotion to him. Loved that the sword was there with her! (thank you Chad!)
The scene where Jared finally confronts Omundson (rach-patooii!) was no joke. It was really kind of awful, with Jensen setting his men on fire, melting rock and men jumping to their death, but what else could he do? It was definitely a heavy scene to read, but a well-written one.
This though, was just what I wanted-maybe nicer than the man deserved: Jared used his sword to direct a stream of blue-white flame at Omundson. The man barely had time to register that he was in danger before he was engulfed completely in Cold Fire. He never even had a chance to scream. Within seconds there was nothing left of him but ashes on the wind. What a vivid image! I was torn between cheering and wincing, but really, it was a much kinder end than he deserved. His death was quick and probably relatively painless, compared to what he did to Jothbert

Yes, the ending was kind of grisly, but they were outnumbered and there was no doubt they would have killed Jared and Jensen without blinking. Omundson did try to kill Jensen, he just didn't have enough potion for Jensen's size. (He's big boned! *Snorts*) But I know what you mean. And yes, in a way rotting in a cell would have been a better sentence for Omundson, but then there would be the chance that he might escape. It's better he's wiped off the board
