Break fic for
azalee_calypso ! :D
I'm betting that Break spends a lot of time babbling to himself inside his own head. He seems like that kind of guy. But it is starting to annoy me that people canonically die on him all the time. What's that about? What, he's not tormented enough? Shall we stick needles in his one remaining eye, too? WHYYYYYY? This is like

I - you - you wrote Break - for me ?!!
*SPARKLES*
*LOVE UNTIL INFINITY*
I love it, of course. The detachedly inner voice constantly rambling about madness and silly children you gave him is oh so fitting. And I love that he's not in denial about Reim, just... used to that kind of thing by now.
*heart breaks a little more*
I was already bought at :
And Reim, of course.
And Reim.
Poor Xerxes Break. He’s really starting to fall apart now.
But then you had to throw Oz in. Have I mentioned I adore your Oz ?
Also the little logical demonstration about Gilbert's cravats. It sounded very Carrolian to me - a bit absurd and funny from the premise itself but actually perfectly logical.
Poor Gilbert.
♥
In conclusion, thank you so MUCH ILU~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ♥♥

God, poor Break. It's like he's, I don't know, burned out on the whole subject of loved ones dying. Man, that time when Sharon got poisoned. That was really tapping directly into Break's crazy, wasn't it? Good job, Vincent. You have a gift.
YAY, OZ. Oz is that character I'll never be able to quite leave out of a fic, I can tell. XD
Poor Gilbert. So horribly easy to tease. <3 Man, I need to go reread Alice in Wonderland now...
But yay, thank you so much! :D *relieved you liked it* ♥♥&hearts!

Just had to pop in and let you know I think this fic is amazing. I love Break's voice so much - the banter and nonsense, the witty Wilde-esque sort of commentary Break provides... with a dark, pragmatic edge. All the characters are just so delightful. And Sharon... *melts* Thank you so much for sharing this.

Thank you so much for the comment! I'm so glad you liked Break's voice; it was tricky to pin down. Break spends a lot of time saying nothing. And then every once in a while he'll say something really sharp and devastating and horribly insightful, seemingly JUST TO KEEP YOU ON YOUR TOES, and, yes. I tried to do it justice! :D
Sharon is FANTASTIC. <3

This is just what I needed this morning; I admire so much how you've shown him to be recovering from all of this nonsense without making him whiny and woeful. The tone is perfect straight throughout, so very very Xerxes, who I could probably never write in first person to save my life. I bow to your skill in that regard.
“A dangerous practice. Next I’ll be making off with the silver.”
“You make off with the silver all the time, Xerx.”
“I bring it back.”
“You horrible liar, you leave it everywhere. Everywhere. I found one of our fork patterns at Duke Barma’s table, did you know that?”
“Ah, but I imagine you’ll find Duke Barma’s patterns in your pantry, and so you see it all works out in the end.”
There were several bits I could gush over, but I died just a little of love at that point. Also
Alas, overexposure to Rainsworth women brings on an addled mental state that causes one to be comforted by constant surveillance. They would never say, “I love you,” when they might instead say, “You’ll ( ... )

Ah, Break. I bet he was whiny and woeful the first time around, back when he was Kevin. And then he seems to have gotten fed up with himself and, like, being sad in general, and instead has become demented and bitter. ILU, BREAK. ♥
Also he is probably a menace to small household items everywhere. XD
The Rainsworth women! They are all, all amazing. And scary, of course. <3
Thank you so much for the comment! :D

I especially appreciated these insightful tidbits:
"Reliable is the last thing they need me to be, whether they realize it or not." (Especially in the face of Retrace 55)
"The problem has never been my faithlessness; quite the opposite. I never left my masters behind. They’ve always left me." (Daaw!)

Ahhh, I still haven't read 55! Where did you find it? *_* But I'm glad it didn't completely undermine this whole fic.
Poor Break, he's always getting ditched. The people around him? They need to stop freaking dying all the time. Yeesh.

The fact that this is so fantastically in character and beautifully done in first person just blew me away. I read through it, like, three times just because I adored it so much. The fact that Break is so tired of the angsting and the whining and that he's resigned to the shit he's got to face...It's sad and so perfectly him all at the same time. <333 And I can't tell you how much I gushed about all of the interactions with the other characters.
And your Oz! Oh your perfect special adorable twisted little Oz. I love him so much. The way he picked at Break's brain just made me "fweee~". Because it's so very himIt is so beyond not fair that you can write for all of my favorite fandoms. And yet, I adore that you do. Because your work makes me love them all so much more. I can't get over it ( ... )

Break was a ton of fun to write, with his freaky bitter silliness. ANGRY GOOD TIMES. Poor Break. Seen it all before. Hated it the first time.
I'm glad you liked Oz! The more I see of him, the more I freaking adore that kid. And yes, Gil is totally the most molestable character in the whole series. What is it with him? XD This fic I'm writing now. I think you may like it. GOD, I HOPE SOMEONE DOES.
Thank you again for the awesome comment! Yay! :D

^^^ So Much This ^^^
I really did enjoy this... so, so much. Break is pretty much the epitome of this character type and he's done so well that writing for him can be nerve-wracking at times. You did so very, very well at it, though; I'm thrilled to see you in the community!
When I get the chance I'm so reading through the rest of your stuff. <3

I'm so glad you enjoyed this! Break is, yes, a fun but tricky character to write. So, so fun, though. Completely worth the trouble. XD
I hope you enjoy the rest of the fic, and thank you for the comment!
