Deidara's young, excitable, and surrounded by incredibly talented, dangerous, beautiful people who won't pay attention to him. I pin him somewhere between envious, annoyed to all high hell, and sexually frustrated. *evil grin*

Holy shite that was hot! The pace at the end was frantic and needy and you could totally imagine what was going through his mind, yet at the same time this whole story was So. Damn. Romantic. Dark romance, of course, I don't mean the lovey-dovey kind. The images were powerful and vivid and I could see as Sasuke once said. I love how Deidara makes Itachi a sun god. He was so very godlike in that one chapter. Untouchable. Fierce. Perfect. I also enjoyed that you included the image of the setting sun, which must have burned an impression into Deidara's subconscious that day, that it would feature in his dreams years later.

Deidara only wishes for the attention that Sasuke got from Itachi. Heh! Together those two both were so angry at Itachi for destroying something close to them, but yet envy(ed) him and need(ed) his favorable glance.

The image that got stuck in my head was how different they act and look-- how contrasting, with Deidara all tanned and blond and blue-eyed, fiery-tempered and childish, and Itachi pale and dark-haired and Sharingan'd up, stoic and solemn-- and yet how similar their jutsus ultimately were: fire and explosions. I bet that if Itachi had given Deidara a good look (and maybe mind-fucked him), Deidei would have been as loyal as he ever could have possibly been.
