Some Things Never Change
The first time Sam breaks his arm, he’s six, and he’d fallen down a hill after trying to shoot a ghost. He cries so hard and so much Dean wishes he could have his own arm-his own body-broken so Sammy wouldn’t hurt.
The fifth time Sam breaks his arm, he’s twenty-three, and he’d been slide-tackled by a zombie. He cries not once, even though it’s a compound fracture, his wrist swells to twice its normal size, and he downs a Vicodin every six hours. Dean still wishes he could have his own arm-his own body-broken so Sammy wouldn’t hurt.
