I'd like to take a quick poll.

How many of you thought, like I did, that when you first read that horrible, awful little sentence, that Remus and Tonks were actually only sleeping? I don't know what stopped me and prompted me to go back, but I did, and after re-reading it about 3 times and it SLOWLY starting to sink in, the waterworks began.

To me, it was just adding insult to injury. Not only were the deaths of my two favourite characters revealed in such a seemingly-offhand way, but misunderstanding the sentence on top of all that... Cruel.

I think that was one of my biggest frustrations with the book as a whole - lots of the plots set up from the previous books just seemed to drift into nothingness. The Inferi, the werewolf plot - even Hagrid's mission with the giants.

That and a couple of little niggles, like I really wanted to see Mrs Figg and some of the other very minor Order members again.

lots of the plots set up from the previous books just seemed to drift into nothingness -- Yeah, I felt like DH was a more satisfying read taken on its own than as the culmination of the whole series. It may have been inevitable that a lot of threads got dropped, but I can still wish...

WORD! It seemed like rather than resolve things, she just gave as heaps of new information. And since my expectations of DH were based on what I already knew not what I couldn't possibly know yet, I was disappointed by that, even though the new information was mostly a really great read.

I think that's the thing - if I'd only read this, I'd have thought 'wow', but because I was waiting for things from the other books to come to a conclusion, I always felt a bit distracted.

By the way your icon is my favourite Tonks icon ever. Every time it's on the screen I end up staring for a little bit :)

Really?

I made it toying with a new technique (I'm addicted to Photoshop), and since DH, I've just really liked using it because it's so colourful it cheers me up, lol.

Thanks :D.

You seem cool. Would you mind if I friended you?

Yeah! The colour is deliciously vivid and Nat Tena looks so Auror-y and Nymph-y.

Well, you may be disappointed with how cool me or my journal actually are :P But I'd love if you friended me. I'll friend you right back!

Yes! I think that's something I'm struggling with. On the whole I think she did fantastic with Harry's story but I do feel that she dropped off with the sub-plots. It's left me wondering why she gave us such a complex world with intriguing characters and sub-plots when she didn't take them to their conclusions.

I wish she hadn't taken this one to a conclusion. :-(

Well, I'm not arguing it as canonical, just planning to use it in fic.

True, and I didn't mean it in a canonical sense, just that it's your plan ;)

I believe molly_coddles is working on a theory where they've actually faked their own deaths using a time-turner... and they don't look happy and peaceful so much as smug that they've pulled it off. OMG POINT ME TO THAT FIC! :D

I wasn't sure what to think, but I certainly went back and read it a few times, to see if maybe the bit of my brain that said "OMG WHAAAT??" was wrong. I agree it was cruel.

And then I tried to convince myself that Harry was going to try and bring them back, after Dumbledore explained about the Hallows and called Harry the Master of Death.
