Aww.
I want to go read the rest of this series right now!
I do like Tonks and her knitting, it makes the whole story just bittersweet enough, in a very nice way.
"I'm afraid I haven't much choice, as I find myself faced with incontrovertible evidence every twenty-nine days."
That is quite possibly the most Moony-ish thing I have ever read.
I like your style.

Thanks -- I'm very happy to hear you enjoyed this! just bittersweet enough is exactly what I was hoping for, and I'm glad you liked that convoluted Moony-esque line.

Longtime lurker here... :) I have to tell you that I absolutely love your Kaleidoscope series. This piece just adds to how wonderful and fully developed the series is. One of the things that strikes me most about your writing is how deeply and honestly you portray the emotions of the characters. Remus and Tonks are so vivid, I feel like their feelings are also mine.

I really love this look into the beginning of Remus's time with the werewolves. You write him the way I've always imagined him - his humanity, his restraint, his love for Tonks. I truly enjoyed this!

Thank you so much for such lovely comments! I'm very happy you've been enjoying the series, and it means a lot to hear that the emotions feel real to you.

This is very well done and a lovely, thoughtful addition to your series. As well as being so enjoyable in its own right ( ... )

I'm glad you've mentioned that Remus is all over the place emotionally, because I was trying for that; it hasn't been long since he's lost Sirius, and (in my ficverse) found out just how complicated his relationship with Tonks really is, and now he's off to face his worst fears in the guise of the werewolf pack.

Having been very nervous about attempting OCs, I'm happy to hear that you found the pack intriguing! Matthias's Slytherin status may make him interesting to Greyback's Death Eater buddies (and I'm hoping to use it as a kind of plot point in my eventual post-war fic, knock wood).

And I think you're right that what Remus really wants most right now is a big hug from Tonks -- but he's a long way from owning up to that. ;)

Thank you -- your comments are much appreciated!

Aw, thank you so much for such kind and encouraging words! I really appreciate the comments.

I'm glad you liked the part about the knitting and what it shows about how these two feel about each other. It's also good to hear that you liked the pack scenes, since I was a little nervous about working with OCs.

(These days I'm working on a DH installment of the series that I hope to finish in the next week or two...)

This is a great addition to the Kaleidoscope series but also a great exposition of Remus' first experience with the werewolves in its own right. The images of the werewolf camp are so clear, and perhaps some of the clearest I've ever read in a fic, with the various houses and a small group organising dinner for themselves -- almost like houses at Hogwarts! ;) Also, you've created some really interesting OCs; I would be interested to know Bess' story and whether she's going to become the ally Remus is after and if Malkin and she will be a little sanity for Remus in the midst of everything else.

For three days Tonks and her brightly coloured muffler-to-be were inseparable.

I absolutely love this line. It made me LOL and love Tonks just a little bit more at the same time. It's so her that she would be so determined to complete a project like that, especially when it's a present for Remus, and I love how the muffler comes back at the end, when Remus takes it with him and finds comfort from it, as I think he absolutely would. It's a ( ... )

Thank you for the kind words! I know we've talked about pros and cons of writing a series before, but as I write more pieces, I start to worry more about whether they really do still stand alone -- so I'm very happy to hear you think this does. I'm definitely planning to do more werewolf-pack installments for the series, so you may see these characters again. :)

I'm glad you like Tonks here, too, knitting a scarf via 90% determination and only 10% ability. I just hated to send Remus off alone without any sort of reminder that there are people (or one person in particular) caring about him back home.
