The bed is unmade like everything is / Dark little heaven at the top of the stairs

Ah, sleep. I slept for about 10 hours last night, and I'm feeling really good right now. I only had one really freaky dream that I can't even begin to describe, but it just makes me laugh now because of how normal it started off and then how bizarre it eventually became.

February is almost over. It flew by for me. A lot of people seem to hate this month, but I can't hate it because my birthday falls on the first day. I also don't mind Valentine's Day, even though I've never had a "special someone" on that day. I always look at it as the day my mom gives me a box full of yummy chocolates and my dad gives me some beautiful flowers. I am hoping that once we leave February, the weather improves. I'm so sick of snow and need it to get warmer. Although, while it has been a winter full of snow, it actually hasn't been too cold. I'm happy about that.

Yesterday I bought tickets to see Joel McHale do stand-up. The show isn't until the beginning of May, but I'm already excited. Our seats aren't that great (we are in the very last row on the main floor), and I'm trying not to dwell on that like I usually do. I need to remind myself that it doesn't really matter where we sit, as long as we can hear fine, it will be good. I have no idea how Joel's stand-up is, but I'm sure he'll be hilarious. I love him on The Soup and on Community.

Last night I finished reading The Tender Bar by J.R. Moehringer. When I put it down, my sister looked over at it and said, "Oh, Tender Bar. I get it...Bartender. Haha, very funny." Then I responded, "Wow. I am so stupid because I didn't even realize that. Thanks." I picked this up because I saw that someone on SF had mentioned it was one of their favorite memoirs. I really liked it and felt that I got to know J.R. very well. Before that one, I read The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan, which I also decided to read because of SF. This book is soooo good! I was totally sucked in and couldn't wait to find out what happened next. I'm really looking forward to the sequel.

Other books I've read this month:
-Geisha, A Life by Mineko Iwasaki with Rande Brown - It was okay. I wanted to get a truer picture of what it was like to be a Geisha after reading Memoirs of a Geisha. I think I did get that, but overall, it was just an okay book.
-One Good Turn by Kate Atkinson - I don't know if it's considered a sequel to Case Histories or not, but the character of Jackson Brodie returns. I think I liked CH a little more, but OGT was still good.
-Catch-22 by Joseph Heller - I don't know what to say about this one. I did laugh at a few things, but I was mostly confused and couldn't tell what was really going on. I feel like I had to make a real effort to finish it.
-The Sign of Four by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle - I wasn't too impressed with this one. Last month I read two other Sherlock Holmes novellas, and I definitely enjoyed them more than this one. However, reading (on the very first page!) about Holmes shooting up cocaine was interesting and rather shocking. I still plan on reading the last novella and then may dive into some short stories.
