No more a rake and no more a bachelor / I was wedded and it whetted my thirst

First day of spring MY ASS. We had beautiful, springlike weather all of last week, and today, the first official day of spring, it's in the thirties and snowing. Normally, I wouldn't be too annoyed by this, but of course, today was the day that I agreed to volunteer at a Girl Scout Camp. All of the tasks they had for us took place outside. The first thing they made us do was rake leaves. In the snow. Have you ever raked leaves in the snow before? I hope not because it's ridiculous. Someone did uncover a teeny tiny snake that was kind of cute. We also saw a deer which was cool. But it all seemed so pointless. We raked a bunch of snow covered leaves onto a tarp and then had to drag them deep into the woods. Wouldn't it be easier to wait until it's not wet outside and use a leaf blower? At least I got a good workout.

After that, they had us rake rocks. Yes, I said ROCKS. And I thought raking leaves was stupid. There was some grass to the side of a path, and they wanted us to rake the little rocks off of the grass onto the path. Wow. That was pretty pointless because most of the time we were just raking grass with nothing on it (well, except for snow, so we were raking the snow onto the path). Luckily, there was a shortage of rakes, so I only raked a little bit before passing my rake to someone else.

Then we had a short break and got to hang out in a cabin for a bit. Not for too long though because there was more leaf raking to be done. So I raked some more, chilled out in the cabin again and decided to leave a little early with some of the other volunteers. I was wet, freezing cold, tired, and covered in mud, so I was just done. This morning was not fun. Now my arms and back hurt, and I have to clean the mud off of all my clothes. My hair also smells like smoke from the fire in the cabin, and I can't stand it. I should probably take another shower. Then I plan on lying on the couch all day doing nothing.

raking, volunteering, complaining
