I would go with B and sugarcoat it. There's no reason to lie to them.

B ... I'd be minimal about the sugar coating. Just state the facts and keep your emotions out of it, but she's old enough to hear the truth.

Can you teach other subjects than history? Might be easier just to get ANY job, get that full time permanent experience on your resume, then upgrade to your subject later when there's an opening.
