Hi!

Thanksgiving was nice. I didn't end up fighting with my parents too much, though we did end up sitting down to have a chat about my grades and what my educational future will be like if they suck. My life is basically like this: Either 1) I get good grades and go to Korea next semester, or 2) I get shitty grades and don't go anywhere next ( Read more... )

kpop is a lifestyle choice, famous people are awesome, irl is a figment of your imagination, it's that time again, i love everyone, look at me look at meeee!, school fuck yeah, the internet is for what?, a herd of teal deer

If you don't mind me asking, is there any particular reason you're struggling with your classes?

And damn, you don't even study Korean formally do you? I thought you were only taking Chinese formally?

It's not really that I'm struggling this semester as much as it is that my really awful depression last year fucked up my GPA pretty badly. I came out of last year with a 2.75 OTL so obviously the pressure is on this year to pull that up as much as I can.

I took a Korean class at the Korean Cultural Center in LA, but I only attended like four of them. All of my Korean knowledge is basically self-taught, which probably explains why I'm still so bad at it XD

Okay, totally feel you. A couple bad grades from the last two semesters before this one as a result of stress put me in a similar boat, but things should still get on just fine for me. Do you need a 3.0 to go abroad or somesuch?

I see. I'm guessing you comprehend a whole lot more than you can speak. Doesn't that suck? (〃ω〃)

In theory, yes, but the Study Abroad office accepted me to the program even though my GPA is bad. I met with the SA director and the coordinator for the Sogang program, too, to be like I PROMISE MY GPA WON'T SUCK THIS SEMESTER PLEASE LET ME GO ANYWAY, and Jack (the SA director who is amazing) was like "Girl don't even stress"-those exact words I believe. SO... yeah. The problem is more that if my grades suck, my parents won't be as willing to help me out financially, so I'll have to pull out of LMU and attend a less expensive state school.

My life is full of comprehending more than I speak, sighs. I'm that way with Korean and Japanese the most, though.
