gekisei translation

Aug 24, 2008 21:01

Did this a few nights ago but forgot to post it. Whoops.

Translation pulled from vikilittrell's kanji given in this post. Thanks again for letting me use your raw version.

The song really is much better in its original language and when sung but I guess that's why music was invented in the first place.

gekisei
Enraged voice

Returning home in the night    Sleepless traffic signals color the road    A one-man midnight parade
Rainy boy*    His downpouring uneasiness fanfares

Past sadness, there's no choice but to laugh.    Without anticipation, there's just boredom.
Rainy girl    She sees her dreams    Yearns for them    Abandons them

Wait for daybreak    In vain, in solitude...

As I listen to the rain's song    I walk inside my troubles
Weak prayers are fleeting    I don't know what it is I'm reaching for
"Somebody, please lend me an umbrella."    As if I can bypass the rain and the wind
Who is the sky crying for tonight?    Walking along cold tracks    To an unknown town

People are like dead leaves    Quietly, gently, vanishing away
Laugh at the fleeting and powerless, yet wonderful tomorrow

The little girl selling candy puts on an air of high society    Inside the mirror is her reflected secret    A heart like a chrysalis
A dance hall with no-one in it    A crybaby's nightlight shines
The ABC's    forced out of my head    Corruption jazz    A blue timbre

"Oh I don't know"    How concentrated love is
Without practical, measurable things, without things that can be seen,
The rain makes people raise their umbrellas hopelessly    Waiting for someone to come, who doesn't

Silent killer    Strapping on manacles    Silent killer    The symptoms of corruption
Silent killer    Fingernails sticking up    Silent killer    Avant-garde

Distraction Distraction

Inside my head it's scandalous    I scream but the world doesn't change
Sick    sob sob sob**
Metamorphosis    Madness    My exploding head    You're a liar    Gentlemen of lust
Starving kids    are the flowers of revolution    Starving kids    are the flowers of revolution

If I gaze away into my hallucinations    one day they'll become reality.
If I gaze away into my hallucinations    one day it'll certainly become reality.

「DECONTROL」 CONTROL 「DECONTROL」 CONTROL    At the end of it all, I'll want to laugh
「DECONTROL」 CONTROL 「DECONTROL」 CONTROL    At the end of it all, I'll be laughing
「DECONTROL」 CONTROL 「DECONTROL」 CONTROL    I'm jealous of myself

CONTROL 「Enraged voice」 CONTROL 「Enraged voice」CONTROL
Throw the megaphone up in the air,
I don't want to listen to anyone's voice

I put down my heart in the corner at the back of an alley    And it sank away to somewhere else
Rainy boy    His downpouring uneasiness fanfares

Wait for daybreak    In vain, in solitude...    In loneliness, in solitude...

As I listen to the rain's song    I walk inside my troubles
Weak prayers are fleeting    I don't know what it is I'm reaching for
"Somebody, please lend me an umbrella."    As if I can bypass the rain and the wind
Who is the sky crying for tonight?    This heart projects out

In the lonely, violent rain    Beautiful flowers bloom
Look at these flowers of hope    at how they bloom in the puddles

Sadness is the deepest of all depths    But happiness waits for you same as always
All doubt will be thrown aside    You'll get to laugh at the wonderful tomorrow

Postscript~
Hello    The blue sky    Darkness    Dejection   The world    The sun    The future    The past
Human beings    Other people    Myself    You    Peace    Freedom    Valuation
Motivation    Lies    Eternity    Dreams    Life    Hope    Despair
Regulations    Confusion    Destruction    Anti-war    Isolation    Purity    Silence
The morning sun    Father    Mother

* "Rainy boy" - the words used are literally "rain boy" and "rain girl", a specifically japanese term for someone who seems to make it rain wherever they are. But since "rain man" would give.. slightly different implications, this is the term I used for it. Apologies if there's an accepted english translation for the idea I don't know of. ^^;
** "sob sob sob" - the sound of sobbing/weeping is shiku shiku, the same romanisation that the word before becomes, so it sounds like Gara just repeating "sick sick sick" over and over. Clever use of sounds.

Corrections welcome.
