I thought that fit very well with the tone of the episode, and also with the separate storyline your fics have been developing. I must say that your Arthur is one of my favorite depictions of him in the merlin/arthur world. I think you capture that mix of affectionate friendship, demanding royalty, and moments of complete thoughtlessness towards Merlin that seem to characterize him.

Thank you so much for your comment! Of course, as you say, my aim is indeed to fit with each new episode while telling a coherent story - sometimes that feels like a harder juggling act than others! Gosh, I know it's sacrilege, but I'll almost be relieved when the season is over and I can wrap this up, for better or worse... No, just pretend I didn't say that. I want more and more Merlin, there's no two ways about that ( ... )

I liked how Arthur checked to make sure he really wasn't hurting Merlin and that his actions were wanted. I liked how Merlin was willing to give him what he wanted even if Arthur was rather a clotpole about it.

Chortles! He was being a bit of a clotpole, indeed... But Merlin knew him well enough to manage the situation in ways that wouldn't let Arthur do anything unforgiveable. At least, that was my intention. I like to think that if Arthur had tried to unleash his frustrations and humiliation on the training field, Sir Leon might have managed the situation as wisely and with as much care for Arthur.

Anyway! I am very glad that you found things in here that worked for you. Now we can look forward to a happy ending... They're getting that, damn it, even if I have to pretend there's an ep 214!

He certainly did manage the situation so that Arthur wouldn't do something unforgivable in the end, plus he made sure Arthur didn't feel guilty about it, at least not too much.

I, too, want at 214!!! And 215! Why oh why do they have breaks! :(
