Arthur schooled his features and set his jaw. If he wanted this to work, his father should not discover what was going on until the last moment.
People crowded the courtyard and there was an uneasiness that could be felt from the balcony where Arthur was standing by his father's side and Morgana's. She was eerily silent, but at least she had stopped insulting Uther.
A drum started beating, signalling the beginning of the execution. Arthur's stomach tightened.
A guard run into the courtyard.
"The sorcerer has escaped!" he panted.
Arthur tried to look surprised and prepared a search party.
