It is bedtime for me again, but after all these days without posting, even though a lot of nice things happens (e.g. Juri performing in Evita, or in a fantastic Christmas concert or both of my kids in a school musical, or a wonderful dinner with our friend C, or finishing the ginger bread house we traditionally make for Christmas, or just snuggling ( Read more... )

Fun! Much as we love our families & do things for and with them, it's also important to take time for ourselves, to relax and be with friends.

What did your decoration look like?

Did y'all put up a Christmas tree? Lots of my online friends have trees on tables. Our house is small, so our tree has to be small, too. It can't be any bigger than my spouse. Decorating the tree is his big thing. He prefers a real tree, for the smell. The compromise is, I make him get it mulched every year. Local towns use the mulch for landscaping.

There was a fun housefilk 2 weeks ago, with lots of good food, friends, & music. I look forward to reading your Christmas adventures.

We have a real tree, on the floor and big enough to touch the ceiling (considering that our house was build in the 30s, that is not too tall :-)). Also, we have a Schwippbogen, which is a traditional light bow with wooden houses and singers, a lot of other wooden ornaments (like laterns, little nutcrackers or a 10 inch wooden christmas tree), a ginger bread house (home meade!) and ten inch snowball-christmas tree-choo-choo-train thing which plays 8 different melodies :-) and our newset purchase, a tiny wooden "TV" (50 style) with a diarama of skating kids and yet another choo-choo train, and it plays 8 melodies, too (drives you crazy in no time :-)!).

And yours? How was your Christmas?
Mine was lovely and we spend the days between Christmas and today playing with our presents (quite literally, we got a lot board games :-), eating terrific food and avoiding going outside and getting dressed as much as we could :-)

Lovely and low-key, the way we like it. We spent Christmas Eve with the in-laws and then had Christmas Day to ourselves. We took the walk & saw all the critters I wrote about. Monday we took my bridesmaid for lunch and to see "Sing!" It's a very fun movie [especially since we saw it at a discount ;)]; I highly recommend it.

I've been fighting e-readers for years, but my spouse surprised me with a Nook. He's been playing with his some, but I probably won't get to mine until after GaFilk this week. Right now, I'm too busy gearing up for that: what to wear, who is coming, where they want to eat, etc.

There aren't enough of us for board games [the cat's terrible at them ;)], but we've watched lots of movies that we've been wanting to see and visited some with the neighbors. It was quiet, but that suits us.

Happy New Year to you and yours!
