Car Shopping

cmuckle and I are now in the market for a new-to-us car. We knew that we were going to need another car because quite frankly neither of ours is big enough to transport all 3 of us, especially with the traveling we do across the state. There's just not enough space to transport us and our luggage. However our mechanic has basically stated that cmuckle's car ( Read more... )

My step-mom is on her 2nd or 3rd Outback now and still loves them.
I fit well in them (as a fluffy girl who's 5'9"!), Aaden's car seats have fit in them well over the years and they do well with gas I think.

Good luck on the hunt for a new-to-you car!

I love my Subaru, granted it is a Forester and not an Outback... but my family has been buying that brand for the past several years. My mom is on Forester #3, my dad has a Baja, my aunt has an Outback, etc. They are wonderful in snowy weather and they get pretty good milage for their type. Mine has almost 130,000 miles on it... and it is still nice. If I had a job closer, I would keep it for another couple years, but since I am communtin 110 miles a day, I'm trading it in for a Prius.

Rob also had a CR-V for several years, and he wishes he still had it. He loved it.

Good luck with car shopping!

Ps: Cute baby. :-)

One more vote for the Subies. You also have the benefit of going to Van Bortel, where I rest fairly sure you won't deal with salesperson BS. They are a no-haggle shop and there's a reason you see so many of their cars in the area. They really are as good as their bandwagon says.

We visited Van Bortel over the weekend and really liked the salesman. The issue is that they didn't have any no-frills cars left. They all had leather interior, heated seats, etc. We really only need AC, basic cd player and cruise control, which comes standard on all subarus now. All the extras adds on to the price and we're trying to stay within budget and have a car payment of less than $200 a month. However if things work out well (cmuckle has 2 more interviews) and buy the outback we liked but had more gingerbread. It's only slightly more expensive than we want. Keep your fingers crossed.
