Yeeeesh.  Another year gone by.  The good news is; I still don't look 46.  The bad news is; I feel sorta 64-ish lately.  O_o

It's all this not-sleeping BS...have to cut that out.

Good news!  Greg passed his Project Management Certification test on Friday...wooo!  I'm very proud of him, he's very relieved, and this is a good, proactive step for him ( Read more... )

Happy Birthday, and you're still a kid because I'm older than dirt!

Thank you! Technically, dirt is not that old. In a forest, leaf compost and debris takes about 25 years to become dirt. So really, you're older than dirt when you hit 26. ;-)

Just out of curiosity, how old is Kiba? The dry food helping teeth thing is a topic of debate, but IME, I can tell what dogs and cats are fed wet food when I see their teeth or smell their breath. Pretty much all teeth go bad eventually, but the way wet food teeth go is a different kinda bad.

Obviously you know him more than I do, but it may not actually be too hard to brush his teeth, in time. You have to acclimate him to him over the course of a month or so, and luckily the toothpaste you use on dogs is non foaming so it shouldn't be a big ole mess. It's also usually chicken flavored, so he may just try to eat it anyway :P

leash? sketchkat06 October 31 2011, 22:27:44 UTC
Why don't you tether him with a short leash while you're grooming him? That's what I see groomers do in the window at Petco. Would probably help when brushing also... after he gets used to it (both tethering and brushing!)

Oh, he hates being tied and he's so smart that he quickly makes a connection "leash = humiliation" and then he'll avoid the leash for a week. My system of treats and quick short grooming is the only thing he'll tolerate. For five minutes he's an angel and then he's DONE and I better grab the fluff before he does or I'll have to vac the whole house.

Really he's pretty good about it and he knows it must be done (I brush him every day...he's gorgeous), but I also have to understand he will only tolerate it for about five minutes. :) We have an understanding.

I'm not sure how the negotiations over doggie toothbrushing will go...
