[It wasn't just the strange architecture and unkempt appearance of this place, nor the empty streets and void of bustling city sounds that Altaïr was alert to. The buildings weren't tall enough here, there were few good vantage points for his purposes, and from what he could tell no good places for Leaps of Faith. This was not a town with an ( Read more... )

That's really difficult to do, you know.

[Being human, Asato can understand the frustration with trying to climb up a wall, in the sense that it's...basically impossible, at least for him. Maybe once this transformation wore off, if it ever did, he could once again be adept at it.

He just stares at the man from a slight distance, head tilted just a bit in curiosity. This one looks different too; all the different time periods produce an interesting mix of people (and animals!), none of whom he's ever seen before in his life. Asato can't make any solid judgments based on this one's attire, and since he hasn't spoken, he can't clue in from there, either. The closest would be Cesare, the strange one who wanted to go roaming to Rome and needed city birds to send his messages to his family in...what was it...Italy?]

[Altaïr stops, one hand on a window sill, the other reaching up to grab a small ledge of brick, and both feet perched with tip-toes on the top sill of a doorway. He looks down at the man, face shadowed under the lip of his white hood.]

For some, yes.

[With the implication that it is decidedly not difficult at all for him.]

[He keeps staring, almost feeling jealous for how nimble and lithe this person is in comparison to his own clumsy human body.]

Are you a cat?

[He can't tell if ears are hidde below the hood, but he's curious. The word comes out translated from Ribikan into the universal Meridian tongue, but it holds the implication that he isn't just talking about a housecat.]

No.

[Altaïr dropped to the ground and turned to face the man, taking a quick glance up and down the street to see if anyone else was around. He balled his fists and lowered his head slightly. He wanted to ask where he was but would that not seem suspicious, to not know where one was? Maybe he could find out more subtly.]

Do you live around here?

[Climbing one building, he'll find a strange looking kid sprawled out on the roof, arms and legs spread, staring dreamily up at the cloudy sky. He doesn't seem to notice Altaïr at all, just smiling to himself and stroking his fingers lazily along one horn.]

[The air is cooler up here but the wind stale, giving no cover for even the most silent footfalls a Master can ease when running. Altaïr slows to a walk the moment he notices that this roof is occupied. His first instinct is to look for a rooftop garden he can use as cover but there is none of course, this is not Jerusalem or Damascus.

His walk slows the closer he gets and Altaïr stops completely when he notices that something is very off about this person. If it is even a person at all. Immediately his muscles tense in his left forearm, the Hidden Blade in his bracer sliding out silently where his ring-finger should have been, shadowed eyes locked on to his target. He waits for the devil to make the first move.]

[Except Gamzee doesn't. Unless one counts persistent horn stroking and occasional humming under his breath as some kind of move. He just keeps staring at the sky, blinking occasionally and laughing to himself with a series of peculiar soft honks.]

[Altaïr had little interest in religious doctrine, he was a product of Islam and Christianity but the only Creed he would ever fight for would be the Brotherhood's. But it somehow seemed typical the hell-spawn would be so lazy, so relaxed, the temptation of sloth.

He set his jaw and took measured steps closer. Altaïr glanced at the edge of the building but decided it would be too noisy and take too long to come up from a better vantage point to attempt an assassination.

The direct approach then. With a rush he at once brings his left arm back, makes a running jump, and aims the Hidden Blade for the head of the hideous beast.]

[Ezio is walking in and out of stores. His purpose for this day was to discover edible items, a few chip bags opened and left on shelves were obvious casualties in his wake, but he wasn't going to take anything he couldn't eat.

Ezio stalks out the store with a brown paper bag filled with a few fruit that taste alright, not like they're suppose to; ie, orange tastes like bananas, strawberries that taste like blueberries, but that's alright. He can deal with that.

He took a step in the store when he spotted something out of the corner of his eye that was ghostly unsettling. assassin?!? Ezio turned his head but the alley swallowed up the vision of the passing figure. The Italian made a face and shook his head, if he was here.. would it not be possible ( ... )

[Altaïr stops and goes still except for the obvious, smooth move of his right hand to the hilt of a throwing knife. He turns his head just enough to keep the stranger in his peripheral vision and watch for sudden movement.

He says nothing when he notices the white hood, but he does tilt his head up slightly so as to see better from under his own white hood. His golden-brown eyes drop to the man's ornate belt.

The symbol, the red sash.

Altaïr relaxes his hand away from the knife and slowly turns to face him.]

[The shadow of the man's hood is enough not to recognize him from so many steps away, but when Ezio draws closer he begins to recognize the other's face. That scar in particular had a strange grasp on him that ceased his steps forward.

This could not be. Yet he was willing to believe.]

Altair?

[His mouth opens slightly at his name being called so familiarly and he cocks his head barely to the side and forward with evident inquiry. Altaïr takes a few slow steps forward and finally his lips move to put voice to question he most readily seeks answer to.]

Who are you?
