School takes up most of my time. I take a break today to come to LJ, where I haven't had any words to say for a long time. Anxiety has a way of killing creativity. But, overall, it's better these days.
My father died on October third. He went in for an esophajectomy and larengectomy which went fine, but his aorta gave out. The operations would have ( Read more... )

Kelly, i'm sorry to hear about your Dad. i know that i will have to face that eventual loss, but i don't like to think about it, and you seem so young to be having to go through it now. i wonder if this might improve your relationship with your mom...maybe she'll reach out a little more to you. (i hope it's ok for me to make that observation ( ... )

Thanks, Sarah. Yeah, Dad was pretty young, 66. I blank out in the grocery store too! I used to be an inspirational cook, but now I've got to learn how to plan.

Thanks for mentioning that about friendship. It probably is something like that, well, I KNOW it is - her husband has some major health issues right now. She went to hang out with her sister-in-law one day and it made me sad that she didn't hang out with me :( But, oh well, that's the way life goes sometimes.

I'm so very sorry about your Dad.

Your illustration for "vacant" is beautiful. Great use of complementary colors and I love the depth suggested by the bit of landscape, as well as the patch of sunlight on the floor.

Very sorry to hear about your dad's death... glad Joey is looking healthier, even if he's still distant.

I loved that painting of yours and was really happy when I saw it go up on Flickr.
