I really pity the RT-PCR monkeys in Winnipeg who must be running umpty-billion flu swabs this week. Happily, while the news establishment seems to be lining up to flip their shit, WHO and the CDC and Health Canada and so on seem mostly chill about it, if cautious.

THANK YOU for the words of wisdom about the Swine Flu. I think people seriously forget how many people die of the flu every year in both our countries. Peoples need to chill.

I mean, it's definitely a cause for caution, but people getting all doom-y about it isn't going to help, and it really may yet amount to very little. The two guys in Alberta who turned up with it are recovering easily after a couple days of meh, so really... *shrug* Half a million people die from flu A every year.
Just, you know, try not to cough on each other.
