Write about jealousy.

As they walked, Remiel had a difficult time keeping his mind on the matter at hand. He knew that once they were closer to where Luonnotar had said the dark man’s home was, he would need to focus, but until then, his thoughts remained firmly on the situation he’d left back at home.

There had really been no choice, but he still regretted having to leave so soon after Naolin had shown up. He still could not believe anyone had the power and knowledge to perform the impossible task of resurrecting someone with the damage that had been done to Naolin’s body. And almost four years later. He would have to make sure Naolin introduced him to the man, if he could find him.

It was curious that this man had told Naolin that it had only been a few hours since his death. Remiel could think of no reason for that. He did not envy Missy and Lena the task of telling him the real date. Add to that the fact that Missy had gotten married in his absence, and perhaps Remiel was glad he had to leave before much conversation could take place.
But no, he wasn’t. He would rather have been there when Missy told her old friend about her husband. He knew it would be difficult for her, and she could use his support. Then again, maybe having Remiel around would have made her uncomfortable. Maybe he and Lex leaving so quickly to track down the man who had killed so many and now threatened Missy had saved her the trouble of asking him to leave.

Maybe she had already told him and he had left her to feel guilty about what she had done to him. He reached for his com-disc; he should check on her.

“Don’t do it,” the man walking next to him warned.

“What?” Remiel asked in surprise. “Don’t do what?”

“Don’t contact her already; we just left.”

“Well…” Remiel searched for a response. “So? I just want to make sure-”

“That she’s going to choose you over him?”

“No…no. Of course I know she will choose-there’s not even a choice to make.”

“No,” Alexander agreed. “But you are still jealous of that man she is not going to choose.”

Remiel glanced sharply at the younger man.

“Relax,” Lex chuckled. “It’s a good jealousy, at least. Jealousy for your wife-there’s nothing wrong with that.”

“No?”

“Nah…I’d probably feel the same way in your situation.”

“Then why shouldn’t I contact her?”

Alexander shrugged. “I’m sure there’s a lot to talk about. It’s your choice; it just seemed like a bad idea to interrupt them already.”

“What would you do then, if you were in this situation, feeling this way? What if it were Lena?”

“Lena?” Alexander echoed with a furrowed brow. “Lena and I are nothing like you and Missy.”
