This will seem odd, given how old this post is, but some things are never too late to be said. Just because I have a Science degree doesn't stop me from becoming a writer, you aren't too old to pursue the things you want to do, but if you stop yourself, you always will be too old. Research what you want to do with writing and take a year or two to get those skills
