Also: did you notice that Tia Dalma had a locket ideantical to the one Davy Jones had? (dunno if you posted bout this, I'm lazy and kinda skimmed) From what some other people have said, I doubt that she herself is the woman Davy cut out his heart over, but is probably connected to him in some way.

I think one of the reasons the starfish on Bootstrap gets darker is the fact that he's slowly getting more and more overtaken by the fishyness or whatever. Either than, or its just the fact that makeup artists can be lame and stuff. :D

Also: Apprently we get to meet Jack's dad in the next movie, so we'll prolly find out why the Pearl is so significant to Jack. :D :D :D

Yep, I posted about the lockets. I don't think it's her either, but she knows too much-- maybe she saved the woman he loved from death? (Like Barbossa and potentially Jack)

And that's what I figured about the starfish, I just wanted to know if maybe it WAS that dark all the way through the movie and it was too dark to tell.

I knew about Jack's dad as well, but what do you mean about the Black Pearl? Do you think his dad has something to do with it?

a couple answers for you. phantom42 July 14 2006, 19:19:08 UTC
Is the starfish on Bootstrap's face getting darker (in color tone) throughout the movie? Yes. White-blue when you first see him and orange the last times.

probably. it seems that the longer you are in the employ of davey jones, the more mutated you become.

What is the place where he got the key picture? Seriously, I just want to know.

my guess is probably was that it what was being referred to as "the pirates cove" on set. jack and pals have to go there in 3 to try to convince everyone to join together.

Who are the candle-people in the swamp? Souls who Tia Dalma has found/saved/ is protecting? Did she find them or did they come to her? Are they connected to how Barbossa got there? No answer before the second viewing but I will expand later in this post.
i cant say this for certain, but they looked like the same people sitting around the set for filming as "the dead souls" which play a role in 3

OK, this just bothered me: If Bootstrap was undead, and he had a knife on him, EVEN IF he was tied up very well and for a good long time ( ... )

Sorry, reposting to try and fix html... citharadraconis July 14 2006, 20:32:48 UTC
Here from metaquotes, just stopping by. Interesting read. :)

"He was a gentleman o' fortune, he was" - "gentleman o' fortune" being a nice way of saying pirate. :D Probably some sort of foreshadowing as well.

I think "what" for "that" is a British dialectical thing, but I'm no expert.

And I agree about the explanation for the starfish color change. A barnacle popped out on his cheek at one point too. (Ew.)

Ah, thanks. And thanks for your thoughts, I like to know if folks think the same things I do.

And I think I noticed the barnacle the first time, but the screen was too dark the second time to catch a lot of details (a drive-in).

"Where is the voodoo doll? No sign of it.

"Voodoo dolls" were originally derived from European paganism, not African paganism. They're called . . . "poppets".

That's really cool to know! I love random trivia like that. (Although it still doesn't explain the doll on the poster, lol.)

"I'm going to take a moment to mention a major plot hole that no one seems to have noticed which is in part actually two holes. The matter of the letters of marque; they give the holder permission to act as a privateer, aka a pirate under hire by a certain country (in this case England). How exactly are these letters of marque going to save Will, Elizabeth, or Norrington? They were never charged with being pirates, but aiding one."

It's not a plot hole. The Letters of Marquee, as you have stated, give the holder to act as a privateer (aka pirate) for the Crown. It said nothing about accusing the holder of being a private.

Heh, I guess I didn't really make my thoughts clear enough, or even think them through, oops, lol. I've read a lot of stuff about how, even if you were a privateer, if you were in a port (even one of the same country) where the person who gave the letters of marque didn't have direct power, you were pretty much screwed if everyone still hated you for being a "pirate."

sorry about that one. =^n.n^=
