I AM TWENTY EIGHT YARS OULDE!

Aug 16, 2007 23:53

As of yesterday, I became a 28 year old. I feel so down right now. I lost too many years. I just want to go to bed. For the rest of you readying yourself to celebrate birthdays, or other annual passings, please remember this ( Read more... )

One of these days you should sit down and write until your hands are ready to fall off, then see if LJ CAN handle it. Imagine if it could handle 25 pages. Your entry alone would reduce all of our Friends pages to dial-up speeds!

In any case, happy belated birthday Jake! Sure you're a year closer to oblivion, but you're also a year closer to cursing young'uns from your porch while indulging in bag after bag of hard candy. Hurray!

You literally invoked memories of my Grandfather, who died at the ripe old age of nineties, when I was about 8-10 years old. He even worked at a candy factory (on the caramel line). To this day, most of my aunts and uncles won't touch caramel with a 100 ft pole.

Why is it that we can't gain wisdom when we're still young? You'd think that after spending 16+ years in school we'd be bound to learn something. And yet it's not until we've been out of school for 5 years that we even start to learn anything.

As they say, school prepares you to learn. It makes you figure out how you apply knoledge. It doesn't actually give you knowlege however. Not for all of us anyway.

You know there are a lot of good things about turning 28. For one, you're not turning 29. You can put that one off for another year!

I'm sorry we didn't get to celebrate yet. Don't worry... we will.

Remember, this is when life can really get good. You're a successful young man, you have the ability to travel and see the world, your capacity for learning is still really good... you've got resources now and soooo many hobbies and new things you can do to pick from!

Furthermore, when you are working late remember that at least you're working late in a field you enjoy. A lot of people out there have it a lot worse!

I know they do. I've spent my life trying to work smart instead of hard so that I can enjoy myself when others are floundering. I now just have to make sure to keep more money in savings than I've been so that I can afford your schooling next year. If I do that, we'll be doing very well indeed. We'll basically be able to ignore the evil compound interest loans yet again.

That means when you graduate, you will start accumulating interest, instead of having 100,000,000 in compound debt to start off with.

Now, we DO need to celebrate :) - your birthday, both anniversaries, and my birthday. We talk later. I understand you are heading to Kalamazoo today. Have a good trip!

Write a medium story and post it (short stories are so very overrated >=U).

Happy Belated, Jake. =o

Thanks! I may just do that. I think that something that needs its own multi-page views in LJ would be a nice thing. Especially when everyone just keeps hitting "next page" and "next page" and so on to read it all... and all for one post.

A long story, in my opinion, is to be several hundred pages. Short stories are up to 20 pages. I think a 25 pager would be a little light for medium, so I'll have to extend things a bit ^_^

I turn 27 in three weeks. I refuse to think about it though because it seems to me a poor indication of where I'm at in my life. ^_^ I'm still going to hide away on my birthday and hope maybe to escape the representation of time's cold inevitable grip on me.

AAaaaaaaanywho.... it'll be fun! or something that mocks fun and makes you wonder who thought of the idea. ^_~

I hope birthday wishes hit home at some point and brighten your week.

I just turned 27... you should come visit and we could have a triple celebration! Or a triple sulk fest if everyone really hates their birthday that much, lol.

Sulking about the birthday... not a bad idea.
