the purple icing for my Bi visibility day cakes came out kind of beige for similar reasons - but edible glitter covers a multitude of sins

The marzipan I tried to cut out shapes from for A's first birthday cake had the same problem, as well as not rolling flat and being cuttable.

Hundreds-and-thousands and Smarties etc cover all cake sins.
They still do blue smarties, don't they?
