Anyone else HATE changing their cup?

Sep 22, 2012 00:03

Usually the first 2 days of my period are wrought with nausea, diarrhea, and PAIN. That means a super heavy flow (sometimes like water) so my diva cup leaks so much. As much as every hour - hour and a half. There are times when I just hate having to go to the bathroom to change my cup because it takes so many steps and I'm so tired, sleepy, and in ( Read more... )

I hear you. That sounds like such a pain!

I wonder if there might be any benefit in changing to a larger-capacity cup? Which, according to this comparison chart (and assuming you're already using the large Diva) would be the large Yuuki. It has a capacity of 35 ml, according to the chart, which is 5 ml more than the large Diva (30 ml). I don't use a Yuuki so I can't speak from personal experience, but if it means you'd have to empty your cup less often, it might be worth investigating ( ... )

I haven't, but I think I may. This may in fact save me even more money! I'm just wondering, where do you buy yours from? I would probably get some heavy duty pads! lol

I have thought about buying a Yuuki in fact and was hoping to buy one from eBay but they're super hard to find there. They have a website though so I really need to give it a go. I'm hoping it makes a difference.

Thanks!

i ordered my post-partum cloth pad stash from http://amysragbag.com/ - since these were my first (and only, they've lasted me for three years so far and will be sufficient for my second post partum period too i'm sure) cloth pads, i had no idea what i'd actually need, i just knew that they's have to be heavy duty since, considering my periods have always been crazy heavy i was afraid of the flood gates that could open with my post partum flow ( ... )

I imagine if i had to change my cup every hour, it would be tiring, i only have to do it twice a day. I agree with the comment above you should conside a cup with a larger capacity like a large Yuuki or a MeLuna XL.

another option is a fleurcup. here's a comparison of the highest capacity cups: http://menstrual-cups.livejournal.com/2761581.html
is your cup full when it starts leaking?

Yup. I'm just glad it's leaking when it's full because I can remember when I first started using my diva and it would leak all of the time because I hadn't grasped it yet. Sometimes, when my cervix is lower it leaks faster.

Using your list, I think I want to try the Large Yuuki although Fleurcup is another one I've recently looked into. :)

for your low cervix days, a fleurcup sounds like the best choice.

I hated it too, that one time my flow got out of control and watery. Since I'm not used to it, I spilled all over my hand. In a public bathroom. With no sink inside the stall. Yeah! But usually, when on the right sort of hbc, my flow is light and life is good. At the end it's almost to light too bother with a cup, so (dark colored) cloth pads come in handy too. I don't ever stain my underwear any more, since I wear cloth pads almost all the time.

Ha! I would so much rather empty my cup than change a tampon!!!

If I'm not at home, there's the logistics of how do I get a new tampon to the ladies room. Take my purse? That's a dead giveaway. Smuggle it in a sleeve, in my sock, down my bra? But it makes that tell-tale crinkling noise! And if I'm at my outside job, my purse is all the way in one direction while the porta-potty is all the way in the other direction. Unlike with my cup, there's no way of doing it discretely.

And high capacity cups hold much more than tampons or others so they need attention less frequently.

I can't sing the praises of cups loudly enough!
