"The entire stem remains outside of your body" - huh?

I was reading the usage instructions and FAQ on the Keeper website (I don't own nor plan on buying a Keeper though, I was just curious), and apparently they advice users to let the stem poke out of their body. This surprised me, but it appears to be the normal way of wearing a Keeper? It just seems awkward to have a 25 mm rubber stick portruding ( Read more... )

The Keeper was the only cup I had ever heard of, when I bought it, so that's the one I have. I cut the entire stem off after the first try. It's a VERY firm cup, and yes, I wouldn't have been able to sit down with that thing poking out, plus it was just annoying.

Weird instructions. It's kinda like they were written by someone who has never actually worn a cup. A Keeper isn't worn any differently than any other cup.

The Keeper was the only cup I had heard of as well when I first bought it. I remember trying to keep the stem out and it bugged the hell out of me. I thought that who ever decided to put that gem of information in the pamphlet was not in their right mind. I had to hack the thing WAY down to the base before I was even remotely comfortable. Mensia is right...It is an insanely stiff cup.

Huh, my first two cups were a latex Keeper, and then the Moon Cup, and I swear the paper insert mentions trimming the stem, and tells you that if you trim it more than half its length, you can't return it.

I think maybe their web site is not that well maintained, overall. And yeah, I had to cut my latex Keeper stem off completely because it was so painful and pokey. I got the silicone version thinking it would be less pokey and stiff, but no, it's not. I'm returning it, since the stem is untrimmed and it's within the 3 month period. I like my Lunette much, much better.

I purchased my keeper in 1992, I am sure that the instructions have changed since then with feedback and testing. I am one of the old fogies on the board :)

I agree with you, I have my Lunette and it works a lot better for me then the Keeper. No more latex reactions. That was not fun!!

Oh, oh goodness, yuck!

I don't seem to have a reaction, I just don't like it as well. I also have mild scoliosis which means my hips are at an angle, so the stem would specifically poke one labia lip and not the other.

Oooohhhh, OUCH!!! I would think you would be raw after a short time. I can only imagine how irritating and painful that could be. I could see where the Lunette would be more genital. I love my Selene! I won one of the new Purple (Cynthia) ones from Lunette a week ago. I cant wait to try it out. Lunette products ROCK!

With the reaction to latex, my bits would swell and itch inside and out. I like silicone. It doesn't make me blindly crawl up the wall like latex does! LOL

I just sent them an email about this, asking clarification on the "leave the stem sticking out" thing and their advice on trimming.
