shortest but widest cup?

Oct 23, 2010 19:10

I originally started using a Keeper close to 10 years ago.  It dry-rotted during my pregnancy with my first child, so I got a Large DivaCup when I started having AF again.  The problem now is that I've had three big babies and am really stretched out there (even the OBGYN says as much).  My Large DivaCup will not stay in place.  I have cut off the ( Read more... )

Use the size charts to figure out which one you think will fit/suit you best: http://community.livejournal.com/menstrual_cups/1285963.html

In the mean time, flip your Diva inside out. That shortens it considerably without clobbering much capacity.

Thanks, I'll try flipping it and see if that helps the length.

a large cup inside out can be a good solution if you need something shorter than most large sizes. i also need a wide one, i'm a virgin but have a very low cervix. i¨m using the large ladycup inside out and i've just recently noticed in the charts that the new brand iriscup, which mostly copied ladycup, has practically the dimensions of the inside-out one, 45x50.
there's nothing considerably wider than the diva though - be sure to do kegels! my grandma has recently started having incontinence:( and the other one who is like 10 years older has no problems *knock on wood* because she does kegels. so there are long-term benefits too:)
afaiu using a stiffer cup might also help, like the large lunette or meluna - i've heard these don't work well inside out though. try flipping your diva inside out to see whether it's already short enough (afaik it has the dimensions of the large lunette) or you need something even shorter.

OBGYN said Kegels won't help. It's not a pelvic floor issue. It's a stretched out vijayjay and opening. Would require plastic surgery to repair things, and I don't have $15,000 sitting around to spend on that. LOL

I look up the Iriscup.

oic:/
the problem is that it's boycotted because of its similarities with the ladycup and it's also just as squishy from what i've read here.
do you also get leaks when it's full enough to be about to fall out? maybe the seal breaks and your muscles can't hold it well?

I only get leaks if it overflows. But last time it was that full, it was falling out just from the weight of the fluid in it and had not started leaking yet. I don't attempt using it overnight at all. :P

I usually get painful cramps if it's starting to get full, so that's my main clue that I need to empty it.

I don't get a seal per se. Definitely nothing with suction.

Brand-Size-WxL
Fleurcup-Large-46x52
Lunette -Large-46x52
Lady/Color Cup-Large-46x53
Miacup -Large-46x53
Diva-Large-46x57
MPower-One Size-47x54
Yuuki-Large-47x55

It looks like the only ones with a larger diameter are the MPower and the Yuki but its not by much but the Fleurcup and Lunette both size large are the shortest in length but still have the same diameter as the Diva

The Diva inside out would be about the same length as the Large Lunette and the Large Fleurcup

Yeah, I'm going to try flipping it first.

*sigh* I really think I need something bigger around, not just shorter. I have a feeling even a shorter cup is still going to fall out just from me being up walking around.

If you can't get a cup to work again, maybe you could try sea sponges? Haven't tried them myself, but it might work! :)

As for being stretched out, Kegel, Kegel, Kegel ( ... )

Yeah, I know the importance of Kegels! Also read the articles about how tight PCs without proper balance (from doing squats) can cause other problems.

The OBGYN told me that my pelvic floor and everything is strong and where it is supposed to be (I've not had any dribbling, even during pregnancies, fortunately!). He suggested that what I need is plastic surgery to repair the perineal area, but I'd be very happy if something like the Ben Wa Balls could tighten up that tissue! I will check into that.

I flipped my Diva inside out and measured, and it shortened it by about 8mm. It also looks like the smooth inside on the outside would be less painful rubbing me down there than the removal rings.
