* Tossed quite a bit of junk these last few weeks. There is a visible floor in my closet and I can actually hang clothes in there now. I am being ruthless -all my spiderman comics, xfiles collector cards, plus the game cards, and a bunch of old pictures of no importance. I cannot believe the amount of crap I have collected through the few fandoms ( Read more... )

Yay on being ruthless but... your Spiderman comics? X-Files cards?? Seriously, we gotta talk. (Did you find a Scully action figure in there?)

Good luck with the quilting! Go team You! I can hardly wait to hear harrowing tales of adventure from down at the ol' Quilting Bee.

The David Suzuki newsletter is saying that you should only eat food that is grown, at most, 100KM from you.

hmmm, Keith's is made in NS. Nope, too far. Stoly is made in Russia. Also a little too far. I don't think I'm gonna do too well on the Suzuki plan.

Hey good luck on the DJ quilt. I started a jeans quilt about two years ago and got as far as the tearing the jeans apart for material. It was a nice stress reliever. Perhaps someday, I'll start the actual quilting.

Good going on the cleaning bit. Did you atleast try to sell the Spiderman comics? I could use the same sense of cleaning around here and I hardly ever buy anything fandom related. Not sure how they sneak in through the cracks.

I feel for you on trying to deal with your fandom stuff. My LOTR collection alone is mind boggling.

That quilt looks like one in my antique quilt book. You sure picked a detailed one to start off with. It should keep you off the streets for a while ; ) Are you going to hand quilt, or machine quilt it? I hate the cutting and piecing, but love the handquilting part. Unfortunately you have to do the one before the other.

You know in the years I’ve known you, you have become absolutely domesticated. Cross-stiching, cooking, quilting…. You now qualify for the Suzy homemaker jokes yourself. I mean even I haven't joined a quilting group : )

*snicker* I must send you a pic of my new girly embroidered jean capris. I cannot believe I bought them.

It's all hand work although some people do the piece work by machine ( have enough with learning to hand sew nevermind work sheila's machine) the applique work (which is most of it) really needs to be done by hand. 169 blocks 52 triangle edge pieces, 4 corners. Yikes. The original quilt is civil war era by a lady who live in Vermont. Sheila and I are going to drive down and see it in October if we can find a place to stay that won't break us financially.

I hope to sew here at lunch/breaks and while waiting for machines to finish running.
