Yeah, I was talking about Faberry/gardenias with someone a while back, and while I think there's something a little enchanting about a secret love, can it really be applied to Faberry? Yes, they've never acknowledged anything out loud, so it is a secret in that sense. But can something still be a secret if it's always been there?
"Your second instinct, therefore, was one of anger.
Quinn would come back into your atmosphere, just like that Train song from so many years ago claimed she would. She came back into your city of dreams and it wasn’t enough for her to haunt you in your dreams, now she was back as well, in person to remind you of the nights she wouldn’t leave you alone." Yes, I love this! I've written it the other way too, where it's Rachel who comes back into Quinn's life and it makes her angry because how dare she come back and make everything hurt all over again? The only thing more painful than forgetting is remembering.
"She was everywhere, except where you wanted her to be." Okay, that has to be one of the most simple stunning sentences I've ever read. That line, completely removed from all context speaks to love in general and we've all had someone like that for us, and ouch, it's so good
"To anyone else, she would look relaxed, but you knew Quinn well enough to know it was simply an act. She wasn’t at ease at all; if anything she was

I think this is the nicest review I've ever gotten - thanks so much!
I think sometimes someone leaves, and we think we're fine, that everything is grand without them, and then they come back and you realize you weren't quite as okay as you thought you were. I think that mentality is interesting, you know, of thinking you're fine and it takes someone coming back, not leaving, to realize it isn't the case at all.
Fun little confession/anecdote: the line about the queen being in charge of her empire is actually inspired by my cat, who is a ruthless tyrant and rules everyone with an iron paw. But she's also very cuddly, so you can of want to forgive her for that. ;-)
Thanks again for such a lovely review, and hope your weekend is going well. :)
