Today was the wedding. Since there are three women in the house we had to wake up at 6.30 in the morning to make sure that everything was done in time and that all females looked respectable. Saris only come in one length. A piice of embroidered material (or patterned or plain or whatever) that is 9 meters long so that every shape of woman can fit

Secondly - w00t! for dancing to Michael Jackson at the wedding! A friend of mine has been dancing away her grief for the past day and it has helped her deal(she loved him a LOT).
Thirdly - I really enjoyed reading your entry on the wedding because I learned something about Indian culture that I never knew. I feel awful for the couple having to wait until October. That has gotta suck.
Fourthly - SWINE FLU???? I'm glad all of you are calm because god knows I would be running aroung like a chicken with it head cut off. If they just called it 'the flu' I dont think people would get so excited. I hope everyone will recover quickly. (I do agree with you, it is an awesome story to tell)

It is a really good way to cope. I have been playing his music and watching his music videos non stop since I heard and it has helped. ANd while we danced we screamed - it was really fun.
I am sure they will try to find time together if they haven't already, but the fact that they shouldn't is really old fashioned.
Yup. We called the emergency doctor line and the woman will get the doctor to call us back, so it might not be sine flu just normal flu but either ay the news is not good. The story is the silver lining!

Weddings are like the ultimate time to do silly dancing, surely? Or is that just my lot? (We have the Strapless Dress Dance. Its more or less what you're imagining, yes.)
And eep, hope your sister's ok!

It is, but it is so much different in an Indian wedding. Everyone will be judging you and comparing you to their daughters and you have to be involved but not too much. you cannot be dancing with one particular person for too long or pay anyone special attention. And if you dance silly then you have to be completely aware that in someone's estimation you have gone down. If you don't dance at all then you have gone down even more! It is a fine balance.
Strapless Dress Dance?? I want to go to one of your weddings!!!
She is feeling much better thank you :D

Even the boys do it!?? I am trying to imagine that and I am cracking up with laughter. It's you way of welcoming them into the family isn't it?
We had that too! It was fun. They should be made mandetory for all weddings.

Also I love it whenever you mention Kenya. Makes me smile.
I love Indian weddings and have never actually been to one. My Indian friends need to seriously hurry up and get married!
Have not sent your gift yet. Will be sending it soon though. I saw 'The Proposal' and thought of you :)

I hereby invite you to mine. All of mine (I do plan to be a serial bride) and all of them will be in exotic locations and on a beach. You have to come. This wedding has been toned down. I have a wedding in August where out of the 6 ceremonies, I have been invited to 5 (the 6th one the bride wants for her friends only otherwise I would have been there too). So that's four solid days of wedding and 5 outfit changes.
Take your time! Was it any good?
