[Oh, her father was much too kind to marry off his youngest (and sanest) daughter without some formal meeting prior to the wedding. Amanda supposed if she had been raised by her father than her mother and grandparents, she wouldn't be so adverse to this.
But there he came, the Alder King of Crown and Tail, and brought her to his 'realm'. Not Faerie proper, he found the place too chaotic, but between shadows and the forests of Germany. Still, close enough to 'home'. She could make a run for it, but without knowing the variables of the situation (like would this Aubrey fellow declare war and cause havok for others if she dashed from the alter), it was too risky for not only herself but others.
I wonder -- [ The voice is calm, even, with a hint of an accent that's difficult to pin down. A thread of amusement weaves its way into the words, owed in part to the fact that he'd managed to sneak up on the brooding young lady as she was lost in her thoughts. ] -- what has the lady so preoccupied.
Surely not the view, as it is rather exquisite. If one goes in for that sort of thing.
[She jolts a good two inches off the floor, hands clutching the window still, when he speaks.]
Beautiful weather.
[Still, despite this, she doesn't bother to look away. No, she's not going to jump down the window. There's still a few days before the wedding and she's rather sure there are many more windows that she can pop out from and not splatter into a million drops of gore.]
I lived in a city all my life. Old forests with old trees are... new for me.
[She turns then to study him. If she's pleased or displeased... well. The look pretty much says he could be a one horned flying purple people eater and her expression would still be the same. She's not happy though not quite with him. Not yet.]
Or the fact they're... like. My sisters? They're kinda like dryads, right?
[ He isn't precisely sure how much she's been told -- not much, he expects -- and so her irritation is entirely understandable. He taps the corner of his mouth with a finger, considering how best to answer. ]
Dryads are a sort of nymph, I suppose, so you would not be entirely incorrect; your sisters, however, are the sort of creatures best to be avoided if at all possible.
[ He shrugs. Fae Monarchs are rather a mixed bag of nuts, as she will invariably come to learn; some of them warm and welcoming, others fickle and cruel.
He believed, truly, that her father meant right by her but at the same time he could understand how it may seem excessive. ]
Well, once this has been dealt with you are more than welcome to return to the world at large if that is your wish.
... so why even get married? What are you getting out of this other than easing my father's concept that I'm a fragile little thing that needs tending to? Wealth? Power?

Forests have a soul all their own; the trees, you see, particularly in these parts of the world, are rather like people. Each have their own story.

She studies him, trying to read him. Tall. Good looking. The eyes were lovely but. Something is off about him.]
He... told me I wasn't like them. He called you a Cait Sith and sadly my iPhone doesn't work here. I keep seeing you as Darth Vader with a cat tail.

I suppose that that would make him the wrinkled old Emperor, no?

[A sharp jab, cruel and unfair. For all she knows that's now how he really looks. But he seems more her grandfather's age than a father's age.]
So what did he tell you about this mess?

[ And he, as his servant, knew better than to question. Certainly not within earshot, at least. ]
I'm to see you cared for. Safe. Evidently he believes that marriage is the way to ensure that that happen.

Please tell me it's not like that.
[She sighs, rolling her eyes hard and crossing her arms.]
I'm fine. I'm perfectly fine. I'd be fine if he left me out in the big wide world and let me stub my toes. That's what people are supposed to do.

[She sighs, starting to pace. She really hates this dress. It's too long and delicate and she's now keeping a tally how often she trips.]
I mean, I don't mean to offend you or anything. It's not supposed to be an insult, y'know?
