[He takes her hand, standing up in a daze.] What's going on, Natasha?

[She's in over her head, that's what. Not that she'll admit it.]

I'll explain later.

[Nodding, Bucky tests his footing, finding he can stand on his own again. Still, he wraps an arm around Tasha, leaning against her for support.] We goin' back to base?

No. [It's simple and to the point.] I've got somewhere safe. We need to make sure you're OK before... [She trails off] The other's can handle it. I'll call it in.

[He nods. Bucky trusts her, and knows she knows what she's doing.]

[Actually in this case she doesn't have a clue what to do. Her primary objective is to keep him and herself alive. She leads him to one of the safe places she knows in the city, muttering a few soft words in Russian before an older woman opens a hidden door.]

Sit down. I can make sure you're OK now that we're off the street.

[She could have fooled him; Natasha seems every bit her usual cool, collected self.] I really am alright. [Ignoring that obviously, he'd been hit pretty hard to have been unconscious for about thirty seconds before she arrived. He just doesn't want her to worry, nor does he want her to think he's weak.]

[It's her job to fool people. She folds her arms and shakes her head.]

You have more blood on you than in you. Now let me look.

[He rolls his eyes.] Hardy har har. [Still, he doesn't fight anymore, giving instead a shrug of resignation.]

[Natasha tries to keep a professional air as she makes sure he's not going to died on her. It doesn't last, though. She worries. Perhaps too much.]

You're an idiot.

[She shakes her head and goes to find bandages and alcohol.]

[This time, he actually laughs.] Yeah, I know. [Maybe if Natasha was his girlfriend, he wouldn't have felt the need to flirt with strange and apparently dangerous women. Not that he would ever blame Tasha for his own stupidity. Plus, he'd never really done relationships, at least not serious or monogamous ones. It would seem that what had worked for him in the 1940s would not work now, though, as evidenced by the Skrull disguised as a gorgeous woman.]

[At least he knows it. She comes back a moment later with enough supplies to patch up an entire platoon. She doesn't know much, other than he's 'displaced' and that makes her a bit more protective than she would someone else.

And for the record, she'd be disappointed if he ever stopped flirting with her.]

[Logical question, at least to her.]

[His eyebrow raises at that.] By myself? So what, I need supervision if I'm gonna try to pick up women? Cause I think that kinda defeats the purpose... [His other eyebrow raises, too, when he sees how many supplies she's carrying. Maybe she doesn't know what she's doing, after all.]

I thought men did that sort of thing in packs. [Thought? No, she knows it for a fact. Sometimes Tasha forgets Bucky doesn't understand this time like most men. She carefully cleans and dresses his injuries while she makes casual conversation, avoiding the fact they're completely and utterly fucked by this Skrull mess.]

In packs? [That has him laughing.] Makes it sound like we're predators, stalking our prey. The prey bein' helpless and innocent females, of course.
