[[ooc: Ahahaha yes! Awesome, that's definitely what I was thinking, late s6.]]

You'd be surprised. [He narrows his eyes. Crowley... He should have known better than to accept his proposition, his help, such as it was... It's so clear now, that this is the only way this could possibly end up. He only wishes he'd seen that when it'd mattered.] You're taking orders from Crowley now?

[Crowley's smart, knows better than to leave him in the hands of any other, more capable demons- Castiel is sure, presented with any other creature down here- he'd find his way out eventually, burn down anything in his path. Anything except Dean. His superiors had been right, what seems like lifetimes ago: he has a weakness, and it's standing in front of him right now. He can't see a way out of this, he needs more time to think ( ... )

It isn't what you are.

[Castiel is nothing if not stubborn, and right now he's putting that stubbornness to good use by refusing to consider the possibility that there's nothing he can do. He'd brought Dean back once, and he's considerably more powerful now than he was the first time he'd been down here... There's a way. There has to be, and he fully intends of finding it.

He watches as Dean makes his way to the wall, and feels his entire body give a shudder of relief when the symbol's broken; his wings stretch, curve upward toward the endless dark above them and he rolls his shoulders along with them, flexes his fingers as his grace is allowed to flow freely again. He'd wondered, for a second, if this wasn't all part of the game, if Dean'd never intended to let him go at all...

It doesn't feel like that's the case. He takes a step forward.]

You're coming with me.

[Dean watches Cas stretch himself out. He looks so much better just with the loss of one of the one ward.

He shakes his head. He can't go with Cas. He can't let Sam see him like this. He's never been a good person and now he's not even a person anymore. He doesn't deserve to be saved. He probably never did. Cas was wrong about that.]

Go, Cas. I'm taking my punishment for letting you go, but if you don't leave now, they might catch you and bring you back here.

[Dean knows that no one else is going to let Cas out. If he gets caught again, Cas will get torn apart and Dean won't be able to stop it. Dean won't be able to do much of anything. He'll be back on the rack for a long time after this.]

Oh maaaan that sounds intense D8 onparkbenches April 6 2012, 16:59:28 UTC
[He feels better... Not perfect, not full strength by any means, but less suffocated, less constrained.

Dean shakes his head, and Castiel doesn't know what else he'd expected. This is Dean, Heaven's righteous man who'd never believed he'd deserved salvation... And that was before he'd been turned into... This.

He considers his options. He could bring him up by force, the same way he'd done the first time, he could stay here and try to convince him to go willingly (which is looking like less of an option by the second; Castiel isn't quite arrogant enough to think he has all the time in the world, not after he's already been captured), or- and it distresses him to even consider it- he could do as Dean asks, and leave him here to suffer whatever punishment Crowley deems appropriate for a failure of this magnitude.

That isn't really an option.

He steps forward, fits his hand over Dean's shoulder like he had all those years ago. It tingles slightly, pins and needles at his fingertips, and he wonders what it feels like for Dean.] ( ... )

It's the magical world of working at a vacation spot! righteous_bro April 6 2012, 23:53:24 UTC
((ooc: No, totally go for it. Whenever Dean and Cas are like this, I get an overwhelming urge to FIX IT. It's not like Dean wants to be there, anyway.))

[Dean knows where this is going and he can't let it. He doesn't want anyone else to see him like this. It's bad enough Cas had to see him. Not just that, but with the extra luggage, Cas is way more likely to get caught and Dean needs him to go soon, because they don't have long before they'll both be strung up.

He inhales sharply when Castiel's hand fits over his arm, right where he'd marked Dean the last time. He can feel that bond they've always had. It's probably in his head, but sometimes he really does feel like he and Cas are connected in some weird, cosmic way. It's like freakin' Twilight and he's not sure which of them is that creepy pale dude, but it's probably Cas given how much he likes to watch people sleep.]

You have to go now. They're going to notice that I broke that ward.

[God, Dean wants to go with Cas. He wants it more than anything. He closes his ( ... )

[[ooc: Lmao will do! Can't just leave him there, poor thing 8'C]]

[Dean doesn't seem to understand- or maybe he's just not willing to understand- that Castiel isn't going to leave him here. He couldn't, it's just not how he's wired. He'd promised Sam that he'd bring his brother back, and he knows he owes him at least that much after what had happened with his soul... But it's more than that, of course. He needs Dean back, he can't do this alone, as much as he wants to.

Dean hisses when he places his hand over that mark, and Castiel thinks he must feel it too, that connection. Truthfully he doesn't know what it means, only that it exists and that it matters somehow....

Those eyes close, then open again... And Cas is convinced more than ever that what he's about to do is right, it's what needs to be done. His brow creases and he digs his fingers more tightly into Dean's arm.]

This will probably be painful for you. I'm sorry.

[That's all the warning he's going to give. It takes some doing, because there are more wards ( ... )

[Dean barely gets any warning before he feels searing pain ripping through his very being. He has to close his eyes against the pain and he can feel the darkest parts of himself burning away from being this close to something so holy, so opposed to what he has become.

It feels like he's flying and drowning all at once and even though it burns more than anything that he went through on the rack, he clings to it with everything he has. He clings to Castiel like he's the only thing in existence and for a moment, for Dean, he is.

He wants to scream, but he's not sure he even has a mouth to do it with anymore. The form he's taken in Hell is all but gone. He's just a scarred, broken little soul and all he knows is that Cas is saving him again. Cas always saves him.]

[Castiel can feel it all, Dean's pain, the way he wants to scream but can't, anymore... And the way he clings more tightly the higher up they fly, the closer they get to the surface. Castiel himself holds tight to that, keeps the way it makes him feel curled in his grace as some kind of confirmation, reassurance that he's made the right decision in tearing Dean up a second time ( ... )

[Dean doesn't have time to think about it through the pain, but somewhere inside himself, he knows that if they are stopped, he would sacrifice himself to get Cas away from Hell. There's really no question of it, not after everything Cas has done for him.

There's relief when they break the surface, but he still clings tightly to Cas as Cas rebuilds his body. He's so dazed and barely there, but Cas is a constant for him, always has been, so he clings tight to the angel and knows that Cas will keep whatever is left of him safe. Briefly, he wonders if he'll have a new handprint--something to remind him that even when he's given up on himself, Cas will always be there to bring him back.

He can feel it when Cas is done fixing his body. It pulls at him like a sharp, insistent tug at his very self. He fights it at first, clinging to Cas on instinct. After the flight up, it's hard to let go, but he slowly lets up on his hold, praying that that pull really is his body and not Hell as his grip on Cas finally gives.]

[He worries, of course, about whether it's even possible, if Dean will be human, a demon, or something else entirely... He prays, too, though he still isn't quite sure anyone's listening; it's a tough habit to break, even after everything that's happened. There's the fleeting thought that maybe this prayer will be answered since it's on Dean's behalf and not his own... But a nagging voice reminds him that that's not entirely the case. Certainly he cares for Dean and his well-being, it's always been a concern, but there's a degree of selfishness also- Castiel needs Dean here, alive.

Castiel waits, peers down at his rebuilt form and waits for some sign that it's taken, that Dean's soul can fit in the spaces between the cells the way it was meant to. His chest rises and falls like it should, but that's purely biological and Castiel hadn't had any doubts that he'd be able to restore those base functions.

Eventually, Dean's grip on him loosens, then disappears altogether, and Castiel reaches out, sets his hand against his cheek.]

[It's just like the first time. Dean's throat is dry and raw and he can barely twitch for the first minute, but eventually, his eyes open.]

Cas?

[He can barely get it out, it's so scratchy, and his arm twitches, hand grabbing at whatever part of Cas is he can get to. He feels like death warmed over, but that's just confirmation that he's really alive. The pain is physical and it's so different from the pain of Hell. It's almost welcome. Cas saved him again.

He tries to do something demon-y. Just something small. He tried to float a pebble to his hand.

Nothing happens. Cas really did it, he thinks.]

[Dean's eyes flutter open and Castiel is flooded with relief. He'd thought... He'd actually been worried he'd been too damaged, too broken to fit back in that body, but as soon as he can see the green sliver of Dean's eyes and feel the grip of hands against his overcoat he can see that that isn't the case.]

How are you feeling?

[He isn't exactly sure how he means it- spiritually, physically?- but he supposes any answer will do since it would mean Dean's alive and speaking and aware of what's going on.]

[Dean coughs.] Like I was just dragged out of Hell. Again.

[He tries to sit up, but only gets a few inches up before easing himself back down. He feels kind of dizzy and he'd rather lie here than fall over. That would definitely look worse.]

And pretty fucking human. Did you...?

[Castiel's lips might just twitch a bit. Just a hair, a fraction...]

That's understandable.

[Dean moves to sit up, and Castiel is about to press his palm to his chest to keep him right where he is... But he seems to decide he's just fine where he is and it saves Castiel the trouble. He looks tired, rough around the edges and weak- and the dirt he's covered in isn't helping- but that's all to be expected. Castiel is just glad he's alive.

And human, apparently. He sends a silent prayer of thanks to his Father for that as he shakes his head.]

All I did was bring you back.

Yeah, well... thanks, Cas.

[He looks away. This kind of thing is always hard for him.]

I know I told you to leave me, but I'm glad you didn't listen.

[Of course Cas didn't listen. Cas always saves him, even when he doesn't deserve it in the slightest. God, he was going to be so happy to see Sam and Bobby again. Seeing Cas up here wasn't half-bad, either, negative feelings or not.]

[Castiel nods, hums his acknowledgement as Dean turns away.]

You can't think I'd have left you there.

[He frowns.]

Or your brother. Not intentionally.

[And now Castiel looks away. That had been a terrible oversight on his part, one he wishes he could take back. If he'd only been smarter, Sam wouldn't be suffering the way he is...]

Would you like me to take you to him?

[He can try to make up for that now, provided he can find a way to stop Raphael. He supposes if he can't, it'll all be moot anyway.]
