11? also throwing in a bit of 9alldosillythngsJanuary 19 2012, 17:00:36 UTC
[Molly's lived in this cottage for as long as she can remember. She lives alone, and happily. She's got the woodland creatures and the old woman that raised her to keep her company. Why would she ever want to leave? Certainly it has nothing to do with the strange ritual her grandmotherly guardian does every week to 'protect' her...]
La la la... [She's singing aloud as she tends to the garden, unaware there's a stranger nearby who can hear her]
(sorry about the crack...)bestofabadlotJanuary 22 2012, 02:17:20 UTC
[Knight Lestrade was given the honour of being sent on the ultimate quest, to seek the long-lost princess and restore the balance in the kingdom two weeks ago already, and he's frankly getting a bit tired of it all. Spotting a young woman tending to her garden, he dismounts and walks in her direction, chuckling as he hears her sing.] Excuse me, my lady?
(they do, don't they?)bestofabadlotJanuary 23 2012, 02:13:57 UTC
[Lestrade smiles kindly, keeping his distances to avoid startling her.] I apologise, my lady. I was merely wondering whether you could point me in the direction of the nearest village? The night is coming, and I would rather not have to sleep out in that forest.
The nearest village? Well, I'm not entirely certain but I believe it's half a day's ride from here.... [That's actually not true, but it's what Molly has been led to believe. Another factor in keeping her at the cottage.
She looks at with mild concern; the woods aren't exactly the most wonderful place to be alone in. She looks back at the cottage, then to him] Perhaps, sir, I might be able to offer you lodging for the night?
...The thing is, I'm not really supposed to talk to strangers... Do you have a name?
[Lestrade sighs, shaking his head and looking at the horizon with worry.] Are you sure? I was told that it was only a few hours’ ride away, this morning. [He steadies himself, he is a knight, he does not fear what’s lurking in the woods, does he? Well, maybe just a little.]
That’d be most charitable of you, good lady! [He replies, smiling to Molly and looking a bit relieved at the offer.] Of course, what was I thinking. Knight Lestrade, of Scotland Yard. Delighted to meet you. [He bows gallantly.] May I ask for yours in return?
[Obviously SOMEONE must've gotten their information wrong, because Grandmother would neeeever lie to her] That's strange...
[She gasps softly, placing a hand to her chest] A real knight! My goodness, what an honor! [And such manners! She smiles amiably and curtsies, bowing her head] Molly Hooper. It's a pleasure to have such a special guest.
[She unlocks the gate to let him approach further]
Actually, you're my only guest...ever. [Blink blink. She shrugs it off and proceeds to lead him inside her cozy cottage]
[Lestrade tilts his head to the side and bends gallantly, accepting the fact that he must be the one to be wrong.] Perhaps my source was mistaken, then.
[He smiles brightly as she curtsies, looking a bit flattered by her admiration.] Quite. My shining armour is a bit muddy though, I must say. [Molly Hooper. The name is familiar for some reason, but Lestrade cannot quite place it, yet.]
Honour is mine, my lady, to be favoured with your company for the evening. [He replies politely, bowing once more before following her towards her house.]
omg, this is pure crack and I love it!bestofabadlotJanuary 30 2012, 17:32:13 UTC
[He nods, tapping his shoes against the wood of the gate to get rid of the mud.] I shall try not to disturb anything, then. [He steps in after her, taking in the simple lodgings, eyebrows furrowing a little at the mysterious carvings on the walls and on the books resting on the table.] A cup of tea would be splendid. [He replies, quiet but tense, his hand on the hilt of his sword at the suspicion of sorcery.]
Tea it is, then! [Molly's oblivious to any suspicions on his part. Her home is her home and that's just how it was. Long as she kept away from Grandmother's things, life was perfect.
She places the basket of flowers down on the table, making her way over to the stove to prep the kettle] So, what manner of crusade has sent you out into our fair woods?
[Lestrade sits down wearily, his eyes cautiously assessing his surroundings, shoulders tense as he watches Molly make tea with a good-natured enthusiasm. She doesn’t look very evil, but the carvings on the wall don’t lie.] Do you live here on your own, good lady? [He asks carefully, before straightening up a bit when asked what his quest is.] I was sent to seek the lost heir of the kingdom, who is said to live belong these woods. [He states solemnly.]
For the most part. I mean, there's Grandmother but she's got lots of trades to do, so she's always traveling between here and town.
The lost heir? [Molly tilts her head as she takes a seat across from him] Well, I do wish you all the luck in finding him. Though who knows if he'd want to leave. I mean, it's lovely here!
Grandmother. [Lestrade replies carefully, looking at the magic books once more.] And do you know when she will be back today? I should like to... talk to her. [He lies, awkwardly. Lestrade is a knight, he should not stoop to such devices, really.] It is lovely indeed. [He smiles, relaxing just a bit.] But it would be his duty to return to the castle, and rule the kingdom, still.
I'm honestly not sure if she'll make it back tonight. I'm sure she'll find a way to let me know. She always does.
[She nods in a half-agreement] Yes, duty's important, but they're really only worth having if they want that duty, right? [The kettle goes off and she goes up to tend to it, continuing to talk to him] Why is the heir lost, anyway? I'm sure they didn't just misplace him one day?

[She straightens up and smooths out her dress, looking at him curiously but with healthy skepticism] Can I help you?

[Molly hasn't been around men much, so she's quite flattered by his words, bringing a small smile to her face]
Do come in, make yourself comfortable. Can I get you anything?
