Democrats in a nutshell. The Dems promised the hardest working Congress ever. As a result they successfully showed up more often than any Congress has since the ratification of the Constitution. Yet they've accomplished almost nothing. Government under Democrats in two easy sentences. Now Pelosi is about to lose her spot because Hoyer says it' ( Read more... )

The Brown bit reminds me of a Chris Rock sketch. He mentioned how men in the black community were patting themselves on the back for not going to jail, for which Rock replied "You're not supposed to go to jail!"

I may try to dig them out later, but several climatologists, usually much older in age, have routinely said that since the 1990s they lost grant money when they wouldn't tip-toe the line on climate change. I believe the Oregon State Climatologist even lost his job because he wouldn't say what the Governor wanted him to say.

What?

"Denial at Brown
By Robert Spencer"

"Of course, there was shouting when I spoke at Brown last week, although not too much, so the Daily Herald has every right to be proud."

An innocent mistake, but I'll include this from your linked article, as I linked frontpagemag and this is a quote from your article made by Horowitz:

“Bringing a neo-Nazi and Jew-hater to campus in connection with Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week would be worse than counterproductive. It’s antithetic to the purpose of the event which is designed to expose Nazis and Jew haters. Any attempt to associate me with this creep is a malicious misrepresentation of my efforts.”

Please read my linked article. Spencer makes several very good points.

Politics, my friend, is a strange business. The Republicans could use the influx of Libertarians desperately. If you could tone down (note: not give up or abandon your beliefs, but tone down) the atheism thing, you might be surprised what a little grass roots effort might elicit. If you decide to let me know you started.

Your jacket would almost certainly not be an issue unless you pursued something on a federal level, and that could be overcome after a record of public service on the state and local levels. It could easily be "spun" (ironic that it's the truth) as an example of how hard dedicated teachers have it.

If you are genuinely interested in public service I'll ask a friend in the field to give me some starter pointers to pass on, for what it's worth. One thing that would serve as a great start is volunteering for a campaign now. Pick one you honestly believe in. The contacts you make there do not disappear, and tend to make up the core extreme minority of citizens who volunteer for and influence all campaigns. Or so I'm told.

more later as I'm hitting the sack but...

he actually drank a cocktail with the identified bacteria in it.... Ugh..

LOL! I'd have to dig back on this or my old journal but I've probbly cited him a dozen times before!

That motherfucker right there is my kind of scientist! "Oh, ulcers are always caused by stress and you won't believe otherwise? *GULP*" I love him!

To think of the suffering that went on for YEARS under those false pretenses. He must have felt like he was telling medieval "doctors" that leeches aren't a cure all.
