I am far too tired to leave a deserving comment, but this was unbelievable. Just. EPIC, god. I loved every single second of this and loved how beautifully fleshed out the plot was but also the characters. Morgana was wonderful, just so sympathetic and brittle and confused. I adored the little bits of memory of her father and all her childhood memories of Uther. I loved getting such an intimate look into her personality and she was just fantastic. Merlin and Arthur sounded so them from the dialogue to the internal thoughts. And Leon. Leon was just lovely &hearts Gorgeous job. I truly loved this!
YAY \0/ Thank you so much for your lovely comment! We tried very hard to get Morgana's characterization down right and how her background would inform her thoughts and actions post-S2; sympathetic and brittle and confused is exactly right -- she's such a conflicted character, and I'm so glad you liked what we did with her, and with Merlin and Arthur's voices! As for Leon, well, he's just awesome all around! :)
Hooray for finishing! Yes, it is rather long, isn't it? ;) I'm glad you made it to the end! Anyway, thank you so much for your wonderful comments. I'm really thrilled that you enjoyed our take on Morgana. We both spent a great deal of time discussing what we wanted to do with her personality and how we wanted her to develop, so it's very satisfying to hear that you felt we were able to do the character justice.
I'm also glad to hear you felt we captured the Merlin and Arthur voices well. And yes -- Leon is pretty awesome all around :)
Anyway, thank you so much for your kind comments! I'm thrilled you enjoyed it!
LOL, it really is a novel, isn't it? Thanks so much for giving this fic a chance and sticking with it through to the end; it is such a compliment not only that this could have been a believable S3, but also that you got invested in Morgana's arc despite not being interested in her character to begin with!
We did have a few discussions about how Leon/Morgana's story should end, but we definitely didn't want a pat romantic ending for them! :) I'm glad what we went with in the end worked for you.
Hey friend! So glad that you decided to give the fic a read, and that you didn't give up on it, despite the fact that you're not as interested in Morgana, Gwen, Uther, etc. It's actually very satisfying to hear that we were able to draw you into the story in spite of that!
It means a lot to hear you say you felt we were able to pull off the Merlin/Arthur storyline in a way that worked for you :). (I appreciate the use of the word "flawless", BTW *blushes* :))
I'm glad we proved you wrong!! I shall remember this for the future, LOL! (Kidding, kidding...;)) But honestly, I'm so happy to hear that you were drawn into Morgana's story in spite of your own initial resistance to it. We spent a great deal of time discussing how we wanted her story to play out, especially since there were so many complexities to her character. And it's good to hear that you were satisfied with how we left things with Leon and Morgana.
Thanks for your kind feedback, hon! I'm so glad you read the fic :D
This fic -- WOW. It's expertly woven, the motivations, desires and emotions of Arthur, Merlin and Morgana. I loved your Merlin and Arthur and thought they were expertly drawn in this story. But the most striking thing about this fic, I think, is Morgana's journey. I adore this three-dimensional version of her story and wish like anything it could have been canon. Morgana has every reason to have conflicting motives, and you dared to go there, where the show really didn't. I love her budding relationship with Leon and think that they would have been a good canon match, if Morgana hadn't turned out evil. And I love that she still cares about Arthur and Gwen, no matter what. It's never made sense to me that Morgana could suddenly hate Gwen and Arthur in canon, enough not to care what happens to them. You did a smashing job with her and because you made her more human than canon made her, you made me care about her choices and her reasons. Thank you for that

YAY, you finished it \0/ Thank you so much for your thoughtful comments, hon; much appreciated! ♥
When we first started writing this, S3 hadn't happened yet, but once it started airing, writing our version of Morgana became more and more cathartic for us, lol. I agree that there was no reason for canon!Morgana to hate Arthur or Gwen, and even though we had no idea what S3 was going to do with her, I'm really happy with how we preemptively addressed that issue! And it's a compliment of the highest order that you wish our Morgana could've been canon, so thank you! :)
I'm so happy too that you liked Uther's role in all this. He ended up with a much smaller part than we'd originally intended for him, but, as with all the characters, we worked very hard to make him as believable and sympathetic as possible while remaining true to the core of his character.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read and comment!
Wow, thank you SO MUCH for your incredibly sweet comments! I'm so happy to hear that you enjoyed the Merlin/Arthur aspect of the fic, but I'm particularly thrilled that you enjoyed our version of Morgana.
As adelagia said above, we started planning this whole thing before series 3 even began filming. But one thing that we were always very clear on was the idea that Morgana was out to get Uther, NOT Gwen or Arthur. She has no reason to hate them, and I'm still upset with the show for expecting us to believe that without any justification or explanation whatsoever. Anyway, it means so much that you felt we were able to present her as a human, because all we really wanted to do was show this strong-willed but conflicted woman who was struggling to figure out her place in the world, and I'm pleased that we were able to make that come across effectively

Awww *hugs* Thank you for being such a wonderful reader and taking the time to give us your thoughts. A bit of emotional speechlessness is a compliment in itself! :) Thanks for coming along this journey with us!
Awww! I'm sorry this made you cry, but at the same time, it's such an immense compliment too! Thank you so very much, not just for this comment, but for your support and your kindness along the way! We've both really appreciated it :).
Anyway, I'm thrilled that you enjoyed this, and I take the fact that you can't even find the words to leave a review as an incredible compliment. You most certainly can say thank you, but I think WE need to thank YOU for your sweet comments! Thanks again for everything ♥
No, no, don't apologize for rambling; we love rambling comments dearly! :) Thank you so much for reading and letting us know your thoughts on each of the major players' storylines; it's always a joy to receive thoughtful comments like yours that let us know what resonated with you.
We were very conscious of keeping the characters human and their motivations believable in all the grey areas, and I'm so happy to hear that you enjoyed all the characterisations! For Morgana especially -- she probably had the most interesting story to tell, at least for me. When we first got started on this, we assumed M/A would be the major draw and wondered if readers might not like that much focus on Morgana, so it's wonderful to know our initial thoughts were wrong! :)
Rambling is awesome. Never, ever apologize for it! :D
Thank you so much for your incredible kindness. I'm so glad that you enjoyed this, but I also appreciate hearing specifically what you enjoyed about the fic. It gives me no small amount of pleasure to hear that you felt Morgana's story was really the heart of the fic, because in a lot of ways, I agree with you.
As adelagia mentioned, we were at first concerned about whether people would be as interested in her story as the Merlin/Arthur piece, so it's been lovely to hear that you and others have felt just as drawn to her.
One of the things we strove for with this fic was to make everyone as rounded and fleshed out as we could, because neither of us believe that people either entirely good or entirely evil. Besides, where's the fun in that? I'm so pleased that you felt we were able to capture Uther, Morgana, Leon, and everyone else in a way that resonated with you! :)
Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback! It means the world ♥
