Melon Field 2 [Yuri]

The forest north of the village stretches to the mountain ridge bordering the sea. But before the narrow mountain pass to the sea, before the end of the forest can quite be seen, there is a melon field. The land is a little hilly here, and the forest around it is uneven, but the field itself is perfectly leveled and square. Although interest in the ( Read more... )

Ed sulked at the melons. Couldn't break them? Him? Hah! He'd show her.

"Oi, you watching?" he asked Mokona. They were just melons, right? Couldn't be that hard...

Concentrating, he clapped and placed his hands on the ground, making spires of rocks shoot out from under each melon.

Ed sighed, frowning, and picked up the objects he had found earlier, lightly hitting the melon with them and watching its reaction, reminding himself to treat it as a science experiment.

If nothing less, maybe he could figure out what it was made of.

The melon wasn't giving any reactions. And it seemed to be made of... well... melon. But harder.

But melons were transmutable. D:

Though, in this case, Ed supposed there was some weird magic protecting them. Seeing as how the last time someone mixed magic with alchemy, the results were... undesirable, he certainly didn't want to try.

Well, then. Ed knocked on the melon a few more times for good measures before standing and picking it up.

...Yep, sounded delicious.

And he couldn't let the little girl down. Or let that white thing mock him.

So, glaring at the melon, he tried to hug it, squeeze it, punch it, and kick it.

The melon is impervious to your assaults!

Ed started to get annoyed. Maybe juuuust a liiiiiiitle.

Grumbling, he clapped, grabbed a stick, and transformed it into a bat/racket hybrid, and tried smacking the melon with that.

Maybe into a tree.

Or a fence.

The melon was sent flying a short distance, before falling back onto the ground and rolling into a halt.

...Great. D<

Ed started to transmute more things, making a hand of rocks and soil come out of the ground to grab it, squeeze it, and bat at it.

The melon, despite this, was intact. The rocks didn't fare as well.

Well. Ed didn't care so much about the rocks, anyway.

Time to try another tactic.

He grabbed a few branches, transmuted them into a kind of net, and hunt the melon from a branch before proceeding to smack at it there.

With a stick.

Careful, Ed, it's swinging back towards your face!

"GUH!" Ed ducked and frowned, before transmuting mini-spears and darts and tossing them at melon instead.

Mokona tittered from the sidelines.

"Go, Edward, go!"

Rika watched and clapped. Ed was a magic man? That was pretty cool.
"Go go nano desu!" She cheered from the sidelines, "But be careful~!" It'd be sad if the melon broke him instead of the other way around.
