Melon Field 2 [Yuri]

Jul 08, 2008 23:47

The forest north of the village stretches to the mountain ridge bordering the sea. But before the narrow mountain pass to the sea, before the end of the forest can quite be seen, there is a melon field. The land is a little hilly here, and the forest around it is uneven, but the field itself is perfectly leveled and square. Although interest in the ( Read more... )

Ed sulked at the melons. Couldn't break them? Him? Hah! He'd show her.

"Oi, you watching?" he asked Mokona. They were just melons, right? Couldn't be that hard...

Concentrating, he clapped and placed his hands on the ground, making spires of rocks shoot out from under each melon.

Each melon bounced up into the air and then promptly plopped back to the ground intact with heavy thuds.

Now, that was annoying. But he supposed it couldn't have been that easy if everyone was whining.

Fine, then.

Ed grabbed red 1 -- after all, he liked red -- and plopped on a vaguely empty part of the field, trying to think of more things to do to it.

...Like cutting it. He could bet everyone else tried it, too, but that didn't mean he couldn't.

With another clap, he changed his automail into a blade and brought it down on the melon.

Mokona clapped from the side.

"Edward is trying very hard!"

This was certainly a nice field. Olette walked between the aisles, sizing each one carefully (apparently, she hadn't heard the rumors about the watermelons being unbreakable). Stopping at a shining one, she kneeled beside it and held it up carefully.

"Hmmm," She murmured. "No bumps or bruises. It'd be perfect to make melon bread with."

"Melon bread?" Danny couldn't help but wonder what the heck melon bread was supposed to taste like.

He stood around rainbow melon #2 alongside Olette, curiously staring at the color. "I don't think they're supposed to look like that." He pointed down to the melon before leaning down to pick it up and feel if it was really a melon or something else...he wouldn't have been surprised if they were plastic.

"Uh-huh," She replied, now eying a regular, green watermelon. "It's bread that tastes like watermelon. It's amazingly yummy. I thought that since everyone's bringing watermelons into the apartment, we could make some."

Watching him pick it up, she grinned. "I don't think so either, but you get used to this place after a while. Every town has its oddities... and Memento's weird food, apparently, is a rainbow-colored watermelon."

"I've heard of banana bread, and pumpkin bread, but never watermelon bread." He grinned to Olette with a slight laugh. "And I think Memento Eden has enough weird stuff without the funny fruit."

He took a good look at the melon before lifting one hand. "Let's see if we can open it!" He'd never tried only making one part of his body intangible, but it was worth a shot. He plunged an intangible arm throw the skin of the melon.

Gunter had taken a break with the other melon field and found this one. Rainbow #2 looked shiny, which distracted him from the others. Perhaps his King's likeness could be created on this melon? He began by weaving a crown out of tall grass and flowers and setting it atop the melon's smaller end.

(( OOC: Between Danny and Olette and Gunter if anyone breaks this baby, you'll have to work out how that works since you are all using the same melon right now. Just a heads up.))

The melon, being a melon, suffered through this undignified display. But that is all it did as well.

((kk, thanks~))

Gunter smirked and started drawing from fleeting memory on the melon the likeness of his king. Dear God, let's be glad Gunter has never pursued a career in art.

Either the melon was an art snob, or it just didn't like it.

It wasn't all that hard to object to being dressed up and scrawled on.

And the melon sat in the dirt where she dropped it, red rind lightly dusted from the fall.

Somewhere out of sight of the field itself unless someone knew exactly where to look a pair of red eyes followed Sakura silently.

Kurogane gave a faint scoffing sound and shook his head when Sakura lifted the heavy melon and promptly dropped it, clearly too heavy for her to take very far at all. She should have brought someone with her if she'd intended to take one of those unnatural things. He'd spotted several others trying to break these stupid things and was glad he didn't have the time to waste attempting the same. Because if he'd been around he was sure someone Mokona would have dragged him into it.

As it was, he was merely checking in briefly on the girl and would be gone again soon...

(( OOC: And the ninja is ninja'ing XD ))

Curiosity and the promise of a possible reward brought T-O-E back to the melons.

Remembering something about a green melon breaking in water, he picked up Green Melons 1 2 and 5, and set off down the narrow mountain pass.

Upon reaching the end of the path, he dropped all three melons into the sea.

The first two that were thrown in had little effect, but the third melon, #5, exploded while dropping fully into the water while the others bobbed to the surface of the salt water unharmed.

(( OOC: And T-O-E breaks one melon for 2% memory regain. ))

T-O-E stood looking at the remains of the exploded melon for some time.

Well, that was easy.

He turned, and left the melons to float until they reverted back to the field.
