You can totally do it! I think it's great though, that you're focusing on being healthy and not doing it for vanity. I think it's probably easier to make real changes if you're doing them so that you eat better and have more energy, things like that.
I'm thinking I might check in on Sundays and post a little progress report. It seems like several people are interested in the program and if my experiences can help anyone, I'll be glad to share them. It seems like the sort of program Marines would be into
( ... )
I've been considering jumping in with both feet lately and several people have suggested the P90X program. Michael and I are starting yoga on Wednesday this week. We both need it! He needs it for stretching and I for... well, yeah.......
Anywho, let me know what you think once you're a week or so in and maybe I'll do it. I'm super nervous about it, but I think I can do it. No, I know I can! :)
I'm absolutely, positively not going to discourage you! :) There's a fit test you take before you start that will tell you if you can do the program or not and if it turns out that you're not ready for it yet, hang onto the program and do something like the couch to 5k to start with and then revisit P90X after finishing that.
If you do that instead, the yoga would be an awesome thing to pair with it. I highly, HIGHLY recommend yoga for anything and anyone. When I regularly do yoga, my entire body just feels like it works better. Stronger, more flexible, and I don't know, just everything works like it should. P90X has it's own version of yoga so you if you go that route, I'd say drop the class until you finish the program.
If the fit test says you can do it, then I know you can do it, too!! :) We can hold each other accountable.
I'm proud of you, too! Let me know how the yoga goes. That'll be awesome, if you can do that together.
Ha! Not if they're better than him. Again, men are weird. But that's no excuse because I've got a dvd and a mat and he doesn't have to go into a class if he doesn't want to, but he still won't do yoga. It's dumb.
Yeah, I really thought doing anything outside the program, especially my first time through, would be a bad idea. Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely take good care of my feet and legs. I want to be able to go back to running without injury when I'm done with this for sure.

I can touch my toes on a good day, though. It takes me a bit to get there, but breathing and reaching just a bit more, and I can do it.
