Absolutely! Plus, I know it'll fit him. The pants already had a hole in one knee and the shirt has always been kind of too broad in the neck and shoulders for him, even though he's starting to grow out of the length. It would always fall down his shoulders when he wore it, so I thought I'd just tear it up instead.
There was one year we had this adorable dragon costume, but he's so freakin' tall that the 4T size I got him (he was 3) was still too dang short in the torso. So yeah, piecing something together from regular clothes is always so much better if you can get away with it.
